Singer Macy Gray argued in a recent op-ed that a new flag is needed for the United States, saying Old Glory is 'tattered, dated, divisive and incorrect' - and providing a design of her own.
Gray, 53, wrote the op-ed for MarketWatch ahead of Juneteenth, which was declared a federal holiday this week and is set to be celebrated on Saturday.
In her piece, the 'I Try' singer said the flag needs to be redesigned to represent all Americans, arguing the symbolism of Old Glory was harmed during the Capitol riot.

It was under the stars and stripes that America freed Macy Gray’s ancestors. It was the sore loser South, with the Southern Democrats that passed Jim Crow laws and manned the KKK. Gray is criticizing the wrong people. The stars and stripes just gives them cover.
