Why Atlanta's richest neighborhood wants to secede from the city Atlanta (CNN)In Atlanta's well-to-do community of Buckhead, the debate over becoming an independent city has been brewing off and on for decades. Now, amid a spike in crime, calls to split from the capital have grown louder than ever.
"We filed for divorce and our divorce is final," said Bill White, chairman and CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, which is spearheading the efforts for the formation of the city. "We're forming our own city, we're establishing our own police force and we will eradicate crime." The city of Atlanta is facing what Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has called a "Covid crime wave."

I hope they cannot break away from Atlanta. I hope those rich pukes who vote Democrat like good little lefties get heaping helpings of communism until they puke.
Good point. I don’t live there any longer and don’t know the ratio of conservatives to liberals in Buckhead, but my good guess is it is predominantly conservative.
So yeah, I hope those rich liberal pukes get a good dose of what they have helped manifest.

Until last month, I lived in a quiet, upscale northern burb of Atlanta. In the process of preparing the house for sale, I installed a Ring door bell. Now I get alerts in my phone about all the crimes within 3-4 miles of the house, replete with videos of the perpetrators. Most are breaking into cars and homes. Guess how many were not black? I’ll wait….
I’ve now escaped to rural Trump country, where people are armed and polite. I couldn’t feel more secure.
Atlanta has a population segment that commits 90% of the crime there.
Admitting it, is ‘racist’.
Focusing on it and preventing it is ‘slavery’ & ‘apartheid’.
What area of S Florida? I was at Homestead, pre-Andrew, and I thought the place was pretty sketchy. A different world than I was used to.

I would think that that would be nicer than sub-Miami in the 80s. It was Mariel boatlift/Haitian refugee time. Even before that, it was a culture shock moving to an area with bullet-proof glass at the gas stations.

BTW, Buckhead has many black residents. My good guess is they are angry, too, that they cannot protect their homes.

I read that you moved, but do you know people who still live there? Are they also going to leave? After reading this, I’m glad we left the suburbs & moved way out to the country.
