Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis slammed the NCAA during a Fox News interview on Tuesday night that highlighted a bill that DeSantis signed earlier in the day that protected girl’s sports in the state.
“I think as these bills were going through various legislatures, I remember the NCAA put out a statement saying any state that enacts this, we’re not going to hold events there,” DeSantis said. “And so I called the Speaker of the House in Florida and I said, ‘did you hear what they said?’ And he’s like, ‘yeah,’ I said, we definitely got to get this done.”
“You can’t be cowed by these organizations, or particularly by woke corporations from doing the right thing. And so my view was throughout this whole time, we have to protect our girls, it is discriminatory to force them to compete against biological males,” DeSantis continued. “And so if the price of having a tournament is that I have to deny equal opportunity to hundreds of thousands of young girl and women athletes throughout Florida, I am much more willing to stand with the girls. And to hell with these events.”
How about DeSantis for President, campaigning on a promise to appoint Trump as head of one of the following agencies:

Conservatives should just quit giving colleges and universities money period. All it does is just fund “woke” nonsense.
There has been talk in the past about the “Power 5” conferences splitting off from the NCAA and forming their own Association...
They should...
Are you serious?
Such a COMMON SENSE reply. No mealy mouthing. I love DeSantis. Why dont you Florida freepers start a recall drive so he’ll be available to run for governor in Texas?
The Big 10 and Pac 12 and ACC are completely on board with “woke” nonsense. They support the NCAA, why would they leave. “The NCAA been berry, berry good to us”.
DeSantis should just move to Texas now...
Thank you for the information.
1) Every state with a Republican legislature should pass the same bill immediately, even if RINO governors veto every one of them.
2) No more attendance at NCAA events or watching on TV until the NCAA catches up with how the vast majority of the public sees this preposterous issue.
Very good ideas, but too many conservatives are fixated on college football and won’t give it up.
Same with ncaa football in the south, NC needs us more than we need them.
I love Trump’s abrasiveness and how he manipulates the media. Ideally I’d love to see four years of Trump-DeSantis and then another 8 years of DeSantis.
I think working with Trump fours years would prepare DeSantis so much better for all the hits he would take and how they will come after him.
Make the NCAA jump through hoops to prove they are protecting women’s sports or decertify the NCAA in Florida.
Sheesh! I am continually surprised by those that can’t or won’t do their own research, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS TAUGHT IN junior high school. Regardless, as you requested, look at Article 2, Section 1, third paragraph, first sentence for your answer.
Article II
Article II Annotated
Section 1
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.
I’m just SMH.

Amen, Well remembered about Cheney having Texas residence as a result of being the President of Halliburton. I was thinking that DJT could always change his residence back to NY or NJ or anywhere he wants to claim.
But, having said that, I hope the undercard is not Desantis. Although I’ve liked him for many years, DJT will carry Florida without Desantis. I don’t have another suggestion at this time, but will when the sands of time slip through the hourglass.

I love this man! To hell with all these events!
“To hell with these events,” is what he said.
Hey shanover!
You make an excellent comment. But it is a bit of “history (or, we could call it “insanity”) repeating itself”.
For example - “Abortion is a woman’s right.”
No-fault divorce.
Women in all roles in the military.
“I don’t need a man.”
The list is a long one.
Actually Ohio State and Penn State have larger fan bases than the SEC schools because of larger population and fewer big schools in the state. Also Notre Dame and BYU have national fanbases as opposed to localized within the state. Will Kentucky give up their basketball titles? Because if the SEC dumps the NCAA, they will out of spite vacate their titles in the other sports (I don’t believe the NCAA has anything to do with post-season football). Hopefully, none of this matters and the NCAA fails miserably and goes away, but we’ll have to wait and see.
