The girls avoid harsh penalties
The two teenage girls charged with carjacking and murdering an Uber Eats driver in Washington, D.C., last month have reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors ensuring they won't spend any time in a prison facility.
What are the details? The two young girls — ages 13 and 15 — allegedly attacked 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar with a stun gun near Nationals Park last month, causing his car to flip. Anwar, who was ejected from the car during the crash, was reportedly a Pakistani immigrant and father of three who came to America in 2014 "to build a better life for himself" and his kids.
News of the gruesome incident — which was captured on video — shocked the country and led to significant outrage on social media. Many expressed a desire that the girls be handed a harsh penalty, but with the latest news of a plea deal being reached, that possibility appears unlikely
The Daily Mail reported Monday that the girls "reached the plea deal with prosecutors that would ensure they will not be held past the age of 21 nor be placed in a prison facility."
Under District law, the 13-year-old girl cannot be prosecuted as an adult, but the 15-year-old girl could be prosecuted as an adult under certain circumstances. However, the Washington Post reported that during court proceedings last week, the prosecutor, Bonnie Lindemann, gave no indication that she would do so.
The girls had been charged with felony murder and armed carjacking, but during their initial court appearance both pleaded "not involved" — the juvenile equivalent to a plea of "not guilty." Their identities have been withheld by law enforcement and media outlets due to their age.
What else? The incident took place Tuesday, March 23, just outside the ballpark where the Washington Nationals play. Video of the incident shows the girls struggling with Anwar inside his Honda Accord before the car accelerated with him hanging outside the driver's side door.
Moments later it rounded a corner, crashing into parked cars and flipping on its side. Anwar was flung from the vehicle and sustained multiple broken bones and a head injury. The two girls can be seen attempting to escape from the vehicle and flee the scene before being stopped by National Guardsmen who happened to be nearby.

The incident was just the latest in a string of carjackings that have occurred in the D.C. area over the past year, many of which have reportedly involved juvenile suspects.
Anything else? More than $1 million has been raised on a GoFundMe page for Anwar, who lived in Springfield, Va., to assist his grieving family.
On the page, Anwar's family described him as "a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one."
"He was simply at work yesterday evening, providing for his family, when his life was tragically taken in an appalling act of violence," the family added. "Words can not describe how our family is feeling currently. Devastation, confusion, shock, anger, heartache, and anguish are just a few that come to mind.
Both will be in prison eventually anyway. Guaranteed.

No doubt about that but part of this sentence should be sterilization. No sense allowing breeding of more criminals.

That's not what happened at all. After they stunned him he clung to the open door while the sped away at an extremely high rate of speed and rolled it at a turn, crushing him and throwing him against a building.
