This makes the second of the America class carrier/deck amphibious assault ships. It likely will be the last as the Marine Corps is moving away from amphibious landings in second-word areas to being able to confront Red China in a sea/land war of major proportions. More air assets manned and unmanned, fast smart missiles, etc.

Not over the next four years it won’t. We’re not going to confront anyone. That would be projecting white supremacy. /sarc
The Tripoli doesn’t have a well deck. The Marines were going the direction you said, but have reversed course. The remaining America class LHA’s will have a well deck, with reduced aviation capability. Of course, we won’t be landing Marines from helicopters OR amphibious craft unless the beach is already secured for that mission (friendly ground or air and/or coastal defenses destroyed). Very few countries are willing to take the losses of an opposed amphibious landing for anything less than an existential threat.
