Following Thursday’s House passage of a Democrat gun control bill, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduced a ban on 205 “assault weapons.”
The legislation, called the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2021,” is co-sponsored by 34 Senate Democrats. It would also ban ammunition magazines holding more than ten rounds.
Feinstein’s ban would allow current owners of “assault weapons” to retain possession of them, but if the gun is transferred, a person must undergo an FBI background check before receiving the firearm.
Her “Assault Weapons Ban” also bans bump stocks, which have been illegal since March 26, 2019.
Feinstein announced her ban stating:
It’s been 17 years since the original Assault Weapons Ban expired, and the plague of gun violence continues to grow in this country. To be clear, this bill saves lives. When it was in place from 1994-2004, gun massacres declined by 37 percent compared with the decade before. After the ban expired, the number of massacres rose by 183 percent.
In contrast, the Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) issued a report indicating the 1994 “assault weapons” ban did not reduce crime.
The Washington Times quoted University of Pennsylvania professor Christopher Koper, author of the NIJ report, saying, “We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence.”
The NIJ report continued, “The ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.”

Assault weapons are not the problem. How many murders in Chicago, Baltimore, Memphis, Atlanta, or other major cities this year were committed with assault rifles versus handguns?
This is a two stage bait and switch plan. Ban the “assault weapons”. Two years later, murder rates are still high. Now we need to ban handguns.
By then the Supreme Court will be majority liberal. It will uphold a total ban on arms held by average citizens by ruling the 2nd amendment applies only to the the current members of the state national guard.
Ten years from now Congress will be banning “assault knives”.
In her mind this will be the crowning achievement of her life. Not the brides, insider trading, and China spy.
And not one of them are a true “Assault Weapon” per ATF definitions. So the descriptor label is a deceptive lie to begin with. This is a “Scary Looking semi-automatic” ban. They even have to lie to their own supporters to con these through.

How about “assault nursing homes”, given the number of people who’ve died at such places under the watch of Governor Kuodos and other Democrats.

As in an earlier comment to another post, the democommies need to sack up and submit the ban private firearm ownership bill. That’s what they want eventually.

My dad showed me how using a bungee cord works just as well as those bump stocks; so now will bungee cords be banned?
Maybe Feinstein should take care of her own backyard before she tells the rest of us how to protect ourselves and our families.

Nothing was ever done about her day, what should we expect.
The same people controlling DiFi are likely the same people controlling Sleepy Joe....probably China.
It would be great if we finally had a majority conservative Court that would hold the FedGov has no authority to regulate firearms in any way.
But, we don’t. And, I think there’s a surprisingly good chance they’re going to get some gun control legislation passed with 10-14 GOP votes in the Senate. I hope I’m wrong but I really don’t think I am.

1989 BATFE ban on import of assault-style rifles by POTUS #41 GHWB after the Cleveland Elementary School mass shooting in Stockton, CA. The shooter used a Chinese AK-56 assault rifle.
Under 18 U.S.C. section 925(d)(3), the Secretary shall approve applications for importation only when the firearms are generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes (the “sporting purposes test”). In 1989, ATF denied applications to import a series of semiautomatic versions of automatic-fire military assault rifles. When ATF examined these semiautomatic assault rifles, it found that the rifles, while no longer machineguns, still had a military configuration that was designed for killing and disabling the enemy and that distinguished the rifles from traditional sporting rifles. This distinctively military configuration served as the basis for ATF’s finding that the rifles were not considered sporting rifles under the statute.
Recall the campaign in 2020 where the DemonRats were pushing the idea of classifying semi-auto assault-style rifles under the 1934 National Firearm Act as Type 2 weapons of war.
