Texas bill would continue border wall construction in the state

In an attempt to pick up border wall construction where former President Donald Trump left off, a state lawmaker in Texas has introduced legislation that would see the construction of a border wall along the Texas-Mexico border.

HB 2862 would create a special "border security enhancement fund" to pay for the projects, which includes planning, designing, constructing and maintaining transportation and water infrastructure along the Texas portion of the international border with the purpose of preventing unauthorized crossings, the trafficking of controlled substances and terrorism. The author of the proposed bill, Republican Texas House Rep. Bryan Slaton, moved to name the barrier the "President Donald J. Trump Wall," and wrote on Twitter that "it's time to finish what President Trump started! Let's build the wall!"

Texas contractors — those incorporated in Texas or that maintain a headquarters or principal office in the state — would be given priority when it comes to project awards...

The bill stipulates that the governor of Texas would seek reimbursement from the federal government for amounts spent from the border projects fund.

SLSCO (Sullivan Land Services Co), in Galveston, Texas, would likely be a major contender for any contracts.

Fat chance that a Xi/Harris/Biden/Soros Admin would reimburse any costs, but the next Trump Administration could do so retroactively.

This. There isn’t any reason the states cannot pick up where the Feds left off. Although I am certain His Fraudulency’s Department of Just Us will file lawsuits to try to stop the states, in which case the states need to backbone to tell the Federal judiciary to pound sand because the Fed gov has no authority to break immigration law, which is what the drooling, senile sock puppet is doing.

That’s what I say. Texas needs to tell WDC to go to hell.....stop the influx of illegals, finish the wall and get back our electricity needs the old fashioned way!!!

Any estimate on a Texas wall comparable to what THE REAL POTUS was going to have built?

Take that Biden.

They should make an option for other Americans to voluntarily help fund the wall through the state of Texas.

They should allow donations to help fund the wall

“There isn’t any reason the states cannot pick up where the Feds left off.”

They actually have an obligation to protect their citizenry.

The cost will be prohibitive to complete, and no doubt the Left will find a thousand snares to impede and sabotage (like the endangered Artic Rat Lungworm, or some such), but they have a duty to do what they can.

Look for Biden & co. to sue to stop wall construction, claiming that border security is exclusively a federal issue (like 0bama did to AZ a few years back).

I’m not saying it’s not all worth the effort, because the graph/map I saw recently showed that bar far the largest un-walled extents were in Texas, but California is still actively allowing migration. I wouldn’t be surprised if California builds an autobon at the border.

“They should allow donations to help fund the wall”

Good idea.

Every bit helps. Maybe we could get some foreign aid to help out (That would be the day). Maybe a billionaire could leave a pile of money in his will, to save the Country that made his fortune possible. Or maybe some profit-making enterprise could be started, to systematically fund this effort.

Leave the door open to funding from all sources.

If NY and CA can go broke paying welfare to illegals, TX can go broke building a wall. At least a good fence adds value to the property.

They should allow donations to help fund the wall.

If every Deplorable donated $10, that wall could probably be finished.

We are not donating to any so called on our side people at this time.

Start with this hole that my man Lindsey (j/k) was pointing out right here. Hire the company that was doing the work and finish what they started. It couldn't cost that much. Get a bunch of patriots from Texas to volunteer. Tell DHS and Biden to get out of the way. This is our country! We are putting up the panels we paid for!

In case anyone missed it, the only reason the hole in the wall exists is the Biden Administration refuses to finish construction.

The panels are ready to be put up!— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) February 20, 2021

That's just the first step, the next will be to have the EPA, Department of Interior, BLM, GSA and the ACOE either sue of just grind the regulatory approval process to a halt.

Sorry but I believe that unless the state of Texas owns some property along the border which I believe they don't, this will never happen.

The cost will be prohibitive to complete...

I believe the Texas state budget is up to about 112 billion per year.

Relative to that, I don't think that the cost to complete the wall in Texas would be a lot.

Well, they could build a wall certainly, but I’m sure the land where Trump was going to build the wall is already controlled by the Feds, and the state can’t just build on Fed land. So I’m not sure what they think they can do, build another wall behind the half-finished border wall I guess?

I would expect the Biden administration to oppose this with
legal measures.

I think a threatened state would prevail, but it would be touch
and go.
