Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if the Republican Party continued to “idolize” former President Donald Trump, they would lose elections.
Cassidy said, “We’ve got to win in two years. We’ve got to win in four years. If we do that, we’ll do that by speaking to those issues important to the American people, and there’s a lot of issues important to them right now, not by putting one person on a pedestal and making that one person our focal point. If we speak to those issues, to those families, to those individuals, we win. That’s where our focus should be.”
He continued, “CPAC is not the entirety of the Republican party. That’s number one. Number two, political organizations and campaigns are about winning. Over the last four years, we lost the House of Representatives, the Senate and the presidency. That has not happened in a single four years under a president since Herbert Hoover. If we plan to win in 2022 and 2024, we have to listen to the voters. Not just those who really like President Trump, but also those who perhaps are less sure. If we do, if we speak to the voters who are less sure who went from President Trump to President Biden, we win. If we don’t, we lose. That is a reality that we have to confront.”

Senator Bill Cassidy must have missed Trump’s speeches and not notice the crowds being in the D.C. bubble causes things like that.

Well, that “personality” of Donald Trump advance conservatism like no other Republican it’s ever been in office, because he was and is a fighter, unlike the wimps we got now.
You can call it a “cult” all you want, we call it loving a man who helped preserve this Republic.
The RHINOs do not get it. Trump is not popular because of his personality. He is popular because of his policies which align with the hard working American people. He is able to articulate our beliefs at a higher stage than ever before. We finally had a candidate to speak for us. Cassidy and others actually know this but they do not want the establishment blamed so people like him blame personality. I wish someone would ask him what Trump policies he disagrees with and what Biden policies he likes.

He knows his ship is sinking and so he goes to CNN to spread his fairy-tales that BHO and his gal pal tell him to spread. He is a bought and paid for Republican..
He made a bad decision, following his orders to vote against a sitting POTUS from his own party, so let him pay the price...Louisiana needs to force him to resign...

There are a few people who do indeed “idolize” Trump. We should never do such a thing.
However...if Cassidy thinks Trump is such a problem, let’s see the bold leadership that was lacking from the GOP (and others) that lead to a vacuum that Trump saw and stepped in to fill. Until we see that, they are not to be taken seriously.
This is a perfect example of how stupid and out of touch the Beltway creatures are. People support Trump because of what he stands for and what he’s accomplished. Other GOP politicians are jealous that he pushed an unrelenting conservative agenda and had high approval and popularity among the base. He’s done what they can only dream of. And the fact that he’s a brash New York businessman outsider galls them even more.
Ha ha ha ha. He is that, isn’t he. Is he really Ed Rollins or Ben Sasse?
