Graham, Trump huddle to talk GOP's 2022 strategy

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Monday that he discussed the 2022 elections during a weekend meeting with former President Trump that he had billed as part of an effort to unite a fractured party.

Graham, returning to the Capitol on Monday evening, said they "just talked about the 2022 cycle."

"He’s very involved in helping the team win," Graham added, noting that Trump "made a bunch of phone calls" and is "trying to get the best team on the field."

An adviser to the former president didn't immediately respond to a question about the meeting and what, if any, outreach Trump did.

Graham traveled to Florida over the weekend to discuss the future of the Republican Party with Trump, who has indicated he wants to remain as the dominant force heading into the 2022 midterm elections and 2024 presidential election.

"I want us to come together as much as possible. I think we need to be united around getting the majority back. ... The worst possible outcome for the Republican Party is to continue to argue amongst itself," Graham told reporters on Friday.

The meeting comes as high-profile divisions have emerged among Republican lawmakers, who are grappling with how to approach Trump following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Senate Republicans have signaled that they are ready to move on while acknowledging that it's far from clear the former president or the party base will let them.

Trump lashed out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell after the Kentucky Republican said during a floor speech that the former president was "morally responsible" for the attack carried out by his supporters.

McConnell's speech drew criticism from some members of the caucus — namely Graham and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who argued he didn't speak for most Senate Republicans.

GOP operatives have warned that a high-profile feud could hurt the party's chances of winning back the House and Senate next year.

Republicans have watched as fierce GOP primary fights have cost them Senate seats they hoped to win in previous cycles. And both McConnell and Trump have indicated they are willing to wade into GOP primaries.

McConnell and his allies are keeping an eye out for candidates they worry could win a primary but be unelectable in the general election.

Trump has not said who he intends to back, though he's previously endorsed primary challenges against Republicans such as Sen. John Thune (S.D.), who is up in 2022.

He indicated during a fiery statement hitting back at McConnell that he would back primary candidates who "espouse Making America Great Again."

"Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First. We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership," Trump said.

If I remember correctly... It was graham who talked trump into barr as AG. Boy, that really worked out well. I don’t trust graham or very many republicans at all. If Trump had listened to these people when he was first running, he’d never have gotten elected to begin with. He needs to stick to his own instincts.

Is it really safe to tell Linda Graham the strategy?

No telling who he may share it with.

Because Graham has demonstrated political skills in getting elected again and again, and thus has gained seniority status in the party. A dialog with any republican is not a bad thing, however one must draw his/her own conclusions based on personal agenda and not be pushed in any undesirable direction. A united republican party will fare better in 2022.

And Graham did NOT vote to convict after impeachment by crazy Pelosi. That should count for something.

Tru dat. ANYONE engaged with Graham needs to understand that behind his displayed obsequiousness lies a snake who will backstab in a flash.

DON’T TRUST GRAHAM!

It doesn’t account for anything, this guy is a snake and has been for decades. His great political skill at getting re-elected, is open primaries in his state. Screw this mook. McCain’s BFF, screw him

Trump giving Graham any more time of his day than flipping him the bird is very bad news.

I can agree Graham is a snake. But talking to him does not mean anything. Trump is never going to abandon MAGA agenda.
Trump does not need any more enemies within the party. There are enough of them already.

Where was Graham when Shelby was campaigning for progressive Democrat Doug Jones with Obamacare repeal in the balance? Quiet as a mouse.

What this is all about is Graham wants Trump to support the RINOs in 2022. No thanks. I don’t care what Trump says my family won’t be voting for Little Marco again due to his support for the coup and certification of the stolen election.

Why is Trump still cavorting with that snake? I guess it’s a matter of, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Papers for primaries for MAGA candidates have to be put in at the last possible minute. And Trump has to pick one guy to endorse in a race. Don’t let the GOPe have 2 conservatives to split the vote letting the RINO win. In states with open Primaries we need MAGA Dems to run to keep them in their own lane.

One more thing, Trump has to have MAGA supporters give directly to the approved MAGA candidates. None of our money should run through GOPe hands. Let them raise their own money.

Micro Rubio is my bellweather as well, if Trump endorses Sen, Amnestio, he is not serious about taking over the GOP and MAGA.

*** Graham, returning to the Capitol on Monday evening, said they “just talked about the 2022 cycle.”

He went to beg

*** who has indicated he wants to remain as the dominant force heading into the 2022 midterm elections and 2024 presidential election.

That is an opinion by author, weaving it into the narrative

*** The worst possible outcome for the Republican Party is to continue to argue amongst itself,” Graham told reporters on Friday.

Graham Craker is crying boo hoo for us to not leave the party.

*** The meeting comes as high-profile divisions have emerged among Republican lawmakers, who are grappling with how to approach Trump following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Authors GOPe psyop opinion injected

*** Senate Republicans have signaled that they are ready to move on while acknowledging that it’s far from clear the former president or the party base will let them

Again no source so is injected GOPe psyop

*** McConnell’s speech drew criticism from some members of the caucus — namely Graham and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who argued he didn’t speak for most Senate Republicans.

GOPe covering their collective butt injection (pun intended)

*** GOP operatives have warned that a high-profile feud could hurt the party’s chances of winning back the House and Senate next year.

GOPe Fear Tactic - dont leave us because we are UNiparty.

*** Republicans have watched as fierce GOP primary fights have cost them Senate seats they hoped to win in previous cycles. And both McConnell and Trump have indicated they are willing to wade into GOP primaries.

Two items linked as one. Answer, The GOPe THREW the election

*** McConnell and his allies are keeping an eye out for candidates they worry could win a primary but be unelectable in the general election.

If the Popular candidate is NOT GOPe insider then McConnell will scrub them, ONLY UNIPARTY candidates need apply.

*** “Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First. We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership,” Trump said.

This was hard to work out, if I want a compassionate person I look on a dating site (got a slap from DW for that, in fun)

NOTE, not ONE statement, thought, or even the word PLATFORM is mentioned. Maybe it was supposed to be CONSTITUTIONAL.

Or are we going to go full back to the future and use the 2016 GOPe Uniparty Platform that included the Removal of the sitting President. Yes that was the 2020 GOPE GOP RNC diddle me three UNIPARTY Conservative Party Political Platform we were voting for and what the Party direction was set out as..

Gaggle it, so in fact the 2020 election cycle had the knives out for the sitting president because that was what was in their Platform (No I am not using that as an excuse but it Will be used as an excuse by those listed above as to why they did what they did.

Just like “ I as ordered to do it “

Blessings
