Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday, hours after the death of Rush Limbaugh was announced, that he will not try to replace the popular radio host.
“There’s a lot of people that are mentioning that and no, it’s not anything I’ve thought about. But he’d be a hard one to replace. You know, we talked to a friend of yours, Sean Hannity, he said, ‘He’s irreplaceable.’ And I view that too. I say he’s irreplaceable,” Trump said during an interview with Newsmax TV.
“You wouldn’t want to follow Rush, it’s the old story, you get somebody like that, you don’t want to follow him, because some things just can’t be done. He was unique.”
Trump repeatedly called Limbaugh “irreplaceable” during an earlier interview on Fox News, saying: “He had an audience that is massive. He would just talk for two hours or three hours, just talk. That’s not an easy thing to do.”
Limbaugh once told the former president that he did study hard before going on air, Trump also said.
“Actually, the big secret, he did work hard. I would ask them, ‘When you go on, do you just go on and wing it?’ And he goes, ‘No, I actually worked very hard to, to learn about the current events, mostly, largely.’ But he said ‘I worked very hard for every show.’ And he did. He did. I always thought maybe he didn’t, but he did,” Trump told Newsmax.
Trump showed his appreciation for the longtime radio host in 2020, when he awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The White House at the time described Limbaugh as a “legendary radio host with millions of loving fans.”

How in the world would President Trump do that?
If he's going to try and replace someone, let it be Mitch McConnell or Romney.
That is what my husband said. He said the Show today was a good history of how Rush got started, even played recording from 1969.
“About the only one of the subs I would listen to would be Steyn”
I like him.
Trump’s not a news observer and analyst, he’s a news maker.
Agree,
Rush is irreplaceable and everyone knows it, Trump doesn’t have the passion for Radio that Rush had. But I do wish there was someone who was in that slot who was similarly committed to American success. I am listening for someone who has that talent.
Rush is irreplaceable, but someone has to pick up the mantle. The country needs it.
He would be a good choice. And he would drive liberals crazy.

He couldn't.
And Rush could never have been Trump.
A great fit for these times.
I think all three primary guest hosts,Mark Steyn,Ken Matthews, and Todd Herman have done an excellent job.
I used to enjoy Walter E. Williams, too.
As someone suggested, Trump would be great filling in for a couple of days. I don’t think a full-time radio gig is his thing, but if he were asked, I think he’d enjoy doing a couple of days.
Michael van der Veen.
That would be interesting.
While no Rush (who could be?), Mark does carry the three character traits that made Rush the radio giant he is; rock-solid conservatism (and the ability to brilliantly enunciate it), the ability to politically (yet tastefully) go for the jugular when necessary, and the extraordinary ability to use humor to make his points.
Trump has a voice for Twitter....
They are all good but on top of being knowledgeable Mark Steyn is funny. I vote Steyn. I do like the idea of Trump coming in now and then. Or maybe you could have a couple of them at the same time. Bring in Peter Navarro and team him with Trump.
I wonder of someone like Sarah Palin could give it a try?

Mark is good and solid in his thinking.
I don’t think he has the same charm that Rush had. Maybe he should talk about his Jewish roots some more. I think one of the ways Rush made things understandable for us as listeners was how he was able to bring his own learned life experience into our experience.
I think Trump should sit in as a guest host from time to time, like once a week. The lefts heads would explode and catch on fire
I agree. I spent a few years in radio, and the amount of prep work and research that goes into a top show like Rush’s is unbelievable... especially for a first-timer. And no, Trump’s voice would not wear well for 15 hours a week. Sorry.
