McConnell and the GOP elites (GOPe) worked against President Trump for years preventing him from passing his wildly popular agenda to protect America, its workers, and its citizens.
McConnell did not hold back as he ripped Trump apart for a “disgraceful dereliction of duty” and attempting to “overturn the election.”
He claimed that the protesters stormed the Capitol because they had been “fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth,” and that Trump was “practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.”
And then Mitch McConnell suggested that President Trump can still be charged in the criminal justice system!
The Dems who also try to prevent President Trump from running again in 2024 came with another plan that would only need a simple majority to succeed.

I not going to try to reason a person out of an idea the person didn’t reason themselves into in the first place. That was obvious when your immediate reaction was a personal attack.

It’s not that they’re afraid of him. It’s also not that they actually feel he was ruining the country. Here’s the real truth: all of those trade deals he removed the US from, all of that “foreign aid” he either abolished or lowered, all of those regulations he cancelled, were moves that took piles of money in kick backs out of the pockets of career politicians. Politicians aren’t multi millionaires from their meager salaries. He was messing with their nut. Ruining decades of deals that made them rich. That’s why he’s a threat. Nothing more.

This would have to be the path they think will happen. I don’t agree with it, just the only way think they will “get there”.
1. Find a VERY friendly US Attorney in Washington DC to charge Trump criminally.
2. Seat the most one-sided, crooked jury imaginable.
3. Use an Emmit Sullivan type judge to conduct a crooked trial.
4. Get a conviction for Inciting Insurrection.
5. The House would then go back and re-file the Impeachment Charges.
6. The Senate would vote 57 or so votes to convict.
7. The Democrats would CLAIM that only a simple majority is needed.
Doing all of that, the Constitution CLEARLY states that the prohibition clause requires a 2/3 vote.
In short, they are deranged. They cannot vote him ineligible with a 51-49 vote.
They are just stoking the hatred of the country against them
No, they cannot. One it is a bill of attainder. And two, they “tried” and failed to convict him of leading an insurrection.
They cannot not find facts with a simple majority. And Three, if they try, they need to stay in the green zone and not venture out much IMO.

Disgusting, anti-democratic authoritarians. We need to remember how eagerly our elected representatives in the Congress have embraced full-fledge authoritarianism, Stalinist style show trials, and laughable “insurrection” accusations (that cannot be taken seriously with a straight face by anyone rational and fair) in order to tell the American people who they are permitted to vote for. The contempt these cretins have for regular Americans must be through the roof.
