Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Friday signed an order which rolled back COVID-19 restrictions, lifting the state's mask mandate and capacity limits in bars and restaurants.

The conservative lawmaker 'strongly encouraged' residents with medical conditions and those over the age of 65 to limit activities outside of the home as she signed a new Public Health Disaster proclamation to ease existing public health measures from Sunday.

As well as ending the requirement for masks in public spaces, the order lifts the capacity limit of 15 people for indoor gatherings and 30 people for outdoor gatherings across the state.

Others popularized:

“Less depressing than Illinois and Less flat than Nebraska.”

“Welcome to Iowa, please turn your clocks back 30 years.”

“Birthplace of corn-holing.”

The comments are hysterical. People are so scared that restrictions aren’t needed now. They will be wearing masksf and hiding for the rest of their lives.

Maybe the governor figured that out.

Reynolds is a supporter of former President Donald Trump and claimed in a video posted to social media last week that ‘the far left is taking over Washington D.C.’

‘President Biden is signing executive order after executive order and now it is conservative governors who are the last line of defense,’ she claimed.

Reynolds had first introduced a mask mandate in November - behind many other states in doing so - which required Iowans two years of age and older to wear masks if they were in indoor areas or were spending more than 15 minutes with people not in their household.

Why did November even happen? One of the few times I wrote a letter to her asking what the hell is the difference between a Republican and a democrat?

Sorry. I actually knew that and forgot.

You’re right on the wasted masks. Mine is either going to be a firestarter or a return to sender

All the red states should be doing this, if they haven’t already.

It would be great to get hold of some postage paid envelopes to the DNC and send them all our gubmint masks.
What do you want to bet they are useless and/or toxic anyway? Government can’t manage a 2-car funeral, let alone do anything else right.

It seems like now that the dims have all the power now, governors and mayors will start to slowly lift their restrictions. The dims needed mail in voting to steal the election. They got the results they wanted so now it’s time to stop the game.

Biden is going to have to be quick to assemble government germ spreaders. Next thing these people will start fraking or something. Better nip this in the bud

Well there is nothing saying a store can still demand/require a mask. I would expect the major chains will still require one for a while.

In Rapid City South Dakota, Walmart and Safeway have signs “requesting” masks. About half the people wear them.

I certainly do not wear the muzzle. I escaped from NY to get away from tyranny. Love my new state and my new Governor.

Also you need to wear two of them all the time. In special cases, certain people will be allowed to take one off while in bed.

Iowa is still a solid red state. I like Gov. Reynolds, she won in 2020 despite a ton of money flowing in from Washington to her leftist opponent.

You’re right. Iowa is close to herd immunity now. Once a state reaches one case in every ten residents, the new infection rate starts to fall. Iowa peaked way back in mid-November and is now seeing cases occur at mid-September rates, and falling steadily.

And yet, people rail against the Governor giving people back free choice again. Sad. But that’s the effect that constant propagandizing has on those with uncritical minds, and boy are they being propagandized.

Here’s a little secret. You can shop for groceries virtually everywhere without a mask. I’ve been doing it from the very start.
