More than 6,000 Oregonians left the Republican Party in January 2021, the same month that pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol and the state party passed a resolution describing the insurrection as a “false flag” operation.
The Oregon Secretary of State’s office publishes voter registration data monthly. The latest data released Monday shows 6,145 people switched their registration to leave the Republican Party in January, a decline of 0.8% from December 2020.
Over that same period, total voter registration regardless of party grew by 6,264 people. From December 2020 to January 2021, unaffiliated registration grew by 8,573 people, Democratic registration grew by 147 people and the Independent Party added 3,011 people.

Having once been an Oregon Republican I can testify that there’s no point for the party to exist there at all. The ‘R’ name is so spoiled that there’s little chance of success. I’ve often though Republicans should switch to Democrat & try to take that party over from within. But there’s no sanity in that party & so success is unlikely.

I already knew in Nov. that leftists would interpret so many Trump supporters ditching the GOP as Republicans disgusted with Trump...

I am one of them. Oregon was once a state that regularly elected republicans to the governorship and Senate, and even the state legislature. Most of the state is beautiful and red, but intense concentrations of left-wing scumbags have messed it up for generations. The republicans aren’t getting jack from me. My allegiance is to President Trump.
Spot on. There are those who've sold the lie for decades that people were leaving religious institutions behind because they were non-believers when the truth is that they believed MORE than the corrupt institutions that failed them. The liars used this to point a finger at others in order to justify their sick agenda of destroying more beliefs saying that more and more people agree don't believe.

I am reminded of the time I moved to SF CA and registered to vote. They asked what political party I was part of. I said I had always been an Independent. The clerk said OK, Independent Socialist Workers Party it is then. I said NO. She informed me I only could choose one of the political parties on the form she had or be listed as no party and be barred from participating in any primary elections.
I thought about it a moment and said what party is the current mayor of San Francisco. She said Democrat. I said fine, sign me up as a Democrat so I can vote against him in the next primary.
Perhaps a number of “Republicans” in Oregon have decided that they need to help select Democratic Party candidates in the next set of Oregon primary elections.
