Incoming Transportation Secretary wants to implement a mileage tax
WND ^ | January 23, 2021

Incoming Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has suggested taxing Americans for the number of miles they drive, a policy he endorsed as a Democratic presidential candidate.

The Biden Administration is actively searching for ways to fund its ambitious $1 trillion infrastructure plan.

Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., acknowledged "privacy concerns" related to implementing a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) system but said it should be considered as a potential replacement for the gas tax.

Don’t those named for such Secretariat offices have to be approved by Congress ?

They’ve thought of all of it, trust me. This has been raised about the past 10 years and they’ve thought of every way possible to stick it to you.

Mileage tax just a preliminary step to restricting serfs from interstate travel...

Only government, military, law enforcement, shipping, and emergency services will be allowed to cross state lines...
Violations will result in all property loss and internment,,,

Just a page out every communist ruled country in history...
Just like other countries, American serfs will silently accept the restrictions...

They want to limit your movement and tax any movement you do make. Makes it hard to travel like we do in an RV. It is a way to monitor us.

“How do they propose to measure mileage use per year? GPS trackers in all license plates?”

License plates are renewed every year. Every 2 years in some states. Probably an odometer exam & taxes due on the license renewal date.

They would tax sex if they could find a way. Of course, same sex would be tax exempt.

Expect many articles by the enemy media to help this along. Articles on how bad our infrastructure is and how many new jobs could be created. Then fake polls showing the majority of Americans approve (except for racists!).

Imho when someone doesnt know a critical piece of information or UNDERSTAND the information in its entirety , those slow thinkers like Aunt Pete always have & opine outrageous & anything opinions so they keep their “ job”proposals to let their boss know they have wood in the fire, so to speak. This type of person puts it out immediately & lacks credibility esp., because they are butterbars.

Maybe he is part of the deep state hired by boe jiden to implement a policy like this for the
Gwate weeswet
i think he is a hired “ mole” by the boe jiden
admin and reports not only to jiden but deep staters’

im sure he knows a lot more & theres a lot going on with this appt and none of us will ever hear about anything from the DOT and frankly, imho, he is not qualified for the job ,just like Mitch Mitchell’ s Chinese wife...you never saw or heard anything from her did you...?

He knows a lot of people..He graduated from 2 spook sites; Harvard & Pembroke..

c’ mon man...

who knows...lol

They could mandate an on-board tracking device which is connected to Internet. For remote locations, they can use a satellite link. Mileage information could be sent intermittently.

Our country is as strong as it’s people.....our Government was handed over by God to those of depraved minds....not the people.

Well, currently electric car drivers evade the gas tax - this would be one way to make sure they pay for road upkeep, too. However, given the state of California’s roads, it’s a pretty sure bet that most gas taxes aren’t being applied to roads anyway.

I suspect those will either be barred completely, or only licensed with some type of special registration allowing minimal usage (shows, parades, etc).

Oregon has already done this and they were kind of stupid about it. IFTA, the tax method used by every other state, charges a per gallon tax based on the miles driven in each state and the fuel economy of the truck. They add up all the fuel you bought during the quarter and all the non-toll miles you drove during the quarter to get your average mileage. Then multiply it by the miles you drove in each state to get the gallons used in each state. This system makes sure the correct tax is remitted to each state regardless of where the truck is fueled. You can’t avoid the tax by buying fuel in a low tax state.

Note that the IFTA tax method penalizes trucks that get poor fuel economy. But Trucks have been getting more fuel efficient over the years and Oregon noticed their revenue going down. So they opted out of the IFTA program and went to a straight mileage tax. Unlike IFTA, this new mileage tax has no fuel economy incentive. This in a state brimming over with communists and tree hugging hippies. Looks like the ANTIFA loonies are right about one thing. Their government really doesn’t represent them.

Well, I can’t help but wonder what placing you plate in a large anti-static bag will do. I mean it’s still transparent, it’ll just block the signal.

It won’t be a potential replacement for gas tax.

It will be in addition to gas tax.

They are not fooling anyone.

In Indiana, there is a supplemental registration fee each year on full electric and hybrid electric vehicles to compensate for this.
