Just when Washington has a chance to turn the page, fresh signs emerged Tuesday that the past is not yet past. It is almost certain now that the Senate will hold an impeachment trial of President Trump next week.
Even worse, it looks probable he will be convicted of a single charge stemming from the Capitol invasion.
The history-making event got the green light from McConnell (R-Ky.) on his last day as Senate majority leader.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made it clear that permanently canceling Trump is his aim, saying Tuesday the president would continue to use “the prospect of a future presidential run to poison the public arena.”
“Donald Trump should not be eligible to run for office ever again,” Schumer added. “All of us want to put this awful chapter in our nation’s history behind us.”
“All of us” now appears to include McConnell and a decisive number of Republicans.
Near the finish, he said: “As I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning. There’s never been anything like it.”
It’s true there’s never been anything like it. But it remains to be seen whether his movement is just beginning — or close to the end.

The deep state wants to make it abundantly clear. No more populist candidates. Trump will be the example for anyone who even considers following his path.

If they impeach Trump it’s not only an attack on him but an unconstitutional attack on the very fabric and heart of this nation.
Not that it matters - As Pelosi ripped up the state of the union speech so do the Democrats rip up the constitution and the very notion of the ideals of Liberty and Freedom as they enact their fascist ideas and work with Big Tech to enforce a one party, one thought, totalitarian state.
This is a very dangerous move. If they do this, it means they have effectively thwarted the future will of the people.
The GOP has been inundating me with requests for cash, but they're not getting one cent while Mitchie is still in charge!

McConnell is a very frightened man. He knows that Trump has documentation on how he and his wife Chao have been colluding and becoming enriched with communist Chinese. Hopefully Trump acts in a timely manner and gets over his funk quickly. McConnell wants to totally destroy Trump before Trump exposes and destroys him.
McConnell is a back stabber. We all knew that, but prayed that we were wrong, but we weren’t. But come 2022 and 2024 we will purge the entire GOP into the ash heap of disappointment. The good ones with the bad ones. I personally don’t think there are any good ones. They’re all infected with liars and backstabbers disease and sooner or later they will stab you in the back, so they all have to go. I am praying Trump forms the Patriot Party so we can take our country back. You know, do some of that Unity stuff.
The peaceful transition of power ended when the Democrats conducted enough election fraud to deny a Republican president his reelection.
The Republican party was 100% complicit in the vote fraud by siding with Democrats.
Making a political martyr of President Trump will have the opposite effect. The WhiGOP is so dead to the 75,000,000 Trump voters that it's not even funny.
China Mitch may have his fistful of yuans, but he will forever be hated by both the left and the right as a Benedict Arnold.
McConnell and the collaborationist GOP need to be burned to the ground and McConnell needs to spend his last days being hounded everywhere he goes.

“They” do not give a s-—t about the will of the people. As long as we keep showing up at work to push the buttons, pay our taxes, and obey its all good. “They” don’t and never have cared about you me or anyone else that hasn’t made them richer or swapped body fluids with them. And most of “them” really don;t care about those people either.
It will be interesting to see if John Roberts will agree to participate. Without him there is no trial. Or, if he does, he dismisses the case for lack of standing since Trump is no longer in office. The Senators have no authority, they are merely the jury.

I’m firmly convinced that most of the GOP really doesn’t care. They think they’ll pick off some wins here and there, and get rich by playing ball with the Dems, fulfilling their role as Washington Generals to the Dems Globetrotters.
