House Democrats' quick 25th Amendment push urging Pence to remove Trump blocked by Republicans

House Republicans blocked quick consideration of a bill calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office amid fallout from last week’s Capitol riot.

Democrats asked for consideration of a bill calling on Pence to mobilize the 25th Amendment, but Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.V., objected Monday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she would bring the bill to the floor if the unanimous consent request was blocked.

"The President represents an imminent threat to our Constitution, our Country and the American people, and he must be removed from office immediately," Pelosi said in a statement Monday, noting that House Republicans rejected the legislation, and claimed they were "enabling the President’s unhinged, unstable and deranged acts of sedition to continue."

"Their complicity endangers America, erodes our Democracy, and it must end," she said.

Pelosi announced that the House would take up the legislation, and said House Democrats are "further calling on the Vice President to respond within 24 hours after passage."

A senior Trump administration official told Fox News that Pence has not been involved in any 25th Amendment conversations.

...claimed they were "enabling the President's unhinged, unstable and deranged acts of sedition to continue."

As opposed to the majority party in the house claimed they were "enabling the President's Speaker's unhinged, unstable and deranged acts of sedition to continue."

The hypocrisy here is stunning. Talk about the kettle calling pot black. This is just further evidence of Rush's statement that the Democrats always falsely accuse the Republicans of doing what the Democrats are actually doing.

My prediction for what it’s worth, (which based on my recent results isn’t much), but here goes anyway.

They will drop Impeachment when Biden is sworn in, “To start the healing process”.

A recorded vote for impeachment means NOTHING, and does not even merit an asterisk. Besides, Trump is gone in nine more days, so this is an exercise in futility, that manages to effectively stop ANY other action on the House floor, and handicaps any other legislation until it is resolved.

Democrats are masters at do-nothing when it comes to dealing with the Republicans in any way, shape, form or manner. Insufferable in victory and intolerable in defeat. But they exhibit both of these characteristics all the time anyway.

Gracious is not their strong suit. They do not understand the concept of forbearance, or have the wit or patience to see beyond immediate gratification.

Appearing on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Dershowitz also poured cold water on the prospects of a second impeachment of Trump, followed by a trial in the Senate.

"The case cannot come for trial in the Senate, because the Senate has rules, and the rules would not allow the case to come to trial until, according to the majority leader, 1 p.m. on January 20, an hour after President Trump leaves office," the constitutional scholar argued.

He added that the Constitution did not explicitly permit a former president to be impeached or put on trial under charges of impeachment.

"Congress has no power to impeach or try a private citizen, whether it be a private citizen named Donald Trump, or named Barack Obama, or anyone else," Dershowitz told the network. "The jurisdiction is limited to a sitting president, and so there won't be a trial."

The legal expert told Politico last week that Trump had not committed a "high crime of misdemeanor" and argued that his speech at a rally ahead of the Capitol riots was protected by the First Amendment.

The Washington post has admitted that Congressional security had advance warning and did not prepare, that that incident started 30 minutes before Trump finished speaking, but she is going through with it anyway.

Pence could not do it if he wanted to. The 25th does not permit a virtual coup “because”. The president must be incapacitated. He is not.
