President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden will receive a coronavirus vaccine publicly on Monday, according to his team.
“It’s important to us, as he’s stated many times, to send a clear message to the public that it’s safe,” Jen Psaki, whom Biden has selected as White House press secretary, said.
The event will take place publicly in Delaware. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and second gentlemen Doug Emhoff will receive the vaccine one week later “to avoid a situation in which all of the leaders of the incoming administration experience side effects at the same time,” according to Politico.
Psaki said the decision is “based on a recommendation by our medical and health experts.”
