WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is discussing the possibility of announcing a campaign to retake the White House in 2024 on Inauguration Day and skipping the swearing-in of his successor, according to three people familiar with the discussions.
There is “preliminary planning” underway for a Jan. 20 event to kick off a new Trump bid, the people familiar with the discussions said, though it’s possible the president could make the announcement earlier as no final decisions have been made.
Regardless of the timing of a campaign announcement, Trump is not expected to attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, according to the people familiar with the discussions. He also does not plan to invite Biden to the White House or even call him, they said.

He has Pence resign.
He then nominates DJT Jr as the new VP.
Trump then resigns.
DJT Jr can then serve for 10 years...the -partial 2yr term and two more full terms.

Trump was smart enough to not run third party in 2016 and if he is not POTUS in 2021, he won’t run third party in 2024 either. He immediately becomes the presumptive Republican nominee.

If the worst should take place in January 2021, I don’t want to see the president and first lady welcome Biden and his wife (just as bad as her husband) to the WH and being greeted by President Trump and Melania before the inauguration. NO WAY!!

I believe Trump will succeed in overcoming the current situation and will serve a second term.
However, in the hypothetical situation of a Biden-Harris-Xi presidency, assuming we are not all six feet under or in labor camps by 2024, I feel that Donald Trump Jr or some other younger person should carry the torch, maybe ask the senior Trump to serve as VP or some other capacity, but if this push back against globalism is ever to gain traction among people under 40, we need a younger standard bearer.
Nothing at all against Donald Trump, but we have to ask, the Donald Trump of 2024, about Biden’s current age, what sort of prospects for his health and efficacy 2025-2028?
I mean Joe Biden is not a suitable candidate just on health grounds alone, let alone the other factors in play.
Another development I would like to see is a more formal restructuring of the Republican Party so it can’t continue its two-track approach of getting mileage out of the MAGA movement while still running a plethora of accommodationist sellout RINO type candidates here and there. It has to be jerked sharply to the right and away from the political no man’s land that is the swamp.
