With coronavirus again surging across California, officials are faced with a narrowing number of options to slow the spread.

Weekly coronavirus cases have doubled in the last month around the state, and Los Angeles County recorded more than 6,800 cases over the weekend, an alarming spike that has officials talking about more restrictions.

The most immediate concern is the Thanksgiving holiday, which officials fear could spread the illness further if people take part in gatherings. But beyond that, officials are trying to balance the necessity of combating this latest spike with their desire to minimize further closures of businesses — already devastated by the pandemic — or to slow their reopening.

Here is a look at what officials are doing, and what's coming:

Travel quarantine

California officials are urging those who head out of state to self-quarantine for 14 days when they return.

Curfew

One idea Los Angeles County officials have discussed is a curfew of some type designed to limit the time businesses are open and people are "mingling."

Reducing occupancy levels

Los Angeles County is examining other options as well.

Among them: reducing occupancy levels at sites where people are indoors; dedicating more resources to ensuring businesses follow public health orders; and encouraging certain safety measures, such as telling everyone who can work from home to go back to doing so

Newsome and the Democrats will keep doing whatever they want to do as long as people keep accepting checks from the California government.

My BIL, his wife, their (adult) son and his girlfriend were planning to visit us in TX from CA over Thanksgiving. They hadn't seen us in over two years since we moved to TX.

The problem is our nephew and his girlfriend work, and they cannot afford to be self-isolating for two weeks after they return to CA. That may be forced on them by the companies they work for (they had made it know this trip was happening several weeks ago). If they can't come, my BIL and his wife would also cancel.

This is one of the reasons this election had so much cheating.

The Democrat cities and states are going under.

A big organization takes a while to die.

The Democrat cities and states are dying, and they need federal money to keep going.

Except for Gov. GruSome - he can do anything, go anywhere and attend any event; but you can't.

He should ban water since every person who has drunk water, dies.

How many "surges" have we had now, after 8 months of face diapers, socialist distancing, and lockdowns? Why, one might almost be inclined to conclude that NONE OF THAT CRAP ACTUALLY WORKS!!! Or, that this whole thing is a lie.

Personally, I am going (and always have gone) with, it's a lie.

So what they are saying is masks and previous lockdowns didn’t work so they will keep trying until the economy is completely destroyed and more people lose their businesses and jobs.

Got it.

Here’sn example of what these rules are doing, and I believe unessessarily. My son builds custom electric guitars for professionals. It’s a sideline business for him but fun and lucrative. Yesterday he went down to South LA to pick up a case from G&G Guitar Case Company. As it happens G&G is the only maker of electric guitar cases for all the majors, as well as smaller ones like my Son. No cases no guitar sales.

The new rules in Californis are shutting G&G down. Because his machines weren’t spaced far enough he had to move some outside. That and the almost daily checks and visits he has had have worn him out.

Now electric guitars are not one of life’s absolute necessities but it is one of those distinctly American things still valued around the world.

Petitons by the major manufacturers have fallen on deaf ears in the Governor’s office. So another American institution will be gone and what will be the good effect? 2 or 3 fewer covid cases and no effect on mortality. Some Chinese case guy is ready I’m sure.
