What worked against Trump among a small segment of conservatives and Republicans in 2016 was the possibility that he might be a liberal in Republican clothing and his Lothario-ness. The first is no longer an issue and the second is less of an issue since he’s proven himself to be a mostly reliable right-winger.

Unfortunately, what we now have is innumeracy working against Trump. As the country with the biggest population in the West, we obviously have the highest number of infected and the highest number of dead, even though the per capita death numbers are lower. And the media is milking this innumeracy for all it’s worth to sway voters. We’ll see if the media’s combined efforts have been successful when the election returns are finalized.

But then Trump has not handled the public relations on coronavirus very well.
He's actually done better than most other country in the west save Sweden, all things considered.
He has just not articulated the things he's done very well, like ventilators (he managed to make Ford produce so many ventilators, we ended up giving them away to other countries), PPEs, hospital ships, converting the Javits center to a hospital in next to no time etc etc.
Everything the governors asked for, he gave them. They all said so before everything got heated in the run up to November.
Trump needs to do a video of his great accomplishments on coronavirus and show them at his rallies.
And in, he should have sacked Fauci long ago. He is a cancer.
