The makers of Eskimo Pie ice cream have announced the new name for their brand, losing a 100-year-old trademark which is now considered racially insensitive.
From 2021 Eskimo Pie will be known as Edy's Pie - a tribute to one of their founders, Joseph Edy.
In 1928 Edy and William Dreyer decided to join forces to manufacture ice cream, beginning a company which owns Eskimo Pie and is now known as Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, in turn owned by Nestle.

yeah, I find it so irrational that it is somehow anti-racist to remove portaits of people on products because of their race. Mind boggling.
Back in the day, I hired an eskimo.
I had to list various racial types on the monthly federal contractors wage report.
I got a call from the Atlanta Regional Office asking if I lied about employing an “Eskimo” in East Tennessee. The federal form used the word Eskimo. The guy was nice but unbelieving. I think curious is correct. In Atlanta they don’t run across Eskimos every day
I then told the story about the young actual Eskimo man who followed a girl here from Alaska. It was tragic. He got drunk and put in jail where he hung himself. There were those in my shop who believed the young girls father had him killed. Bad business that was

My point is that it’s the name of an ice cream bar.
Never once have I argued that people should or should not be referred to as Eskimo.
Nor am I aware the old image (which was not derogatory or insulting) is still used. Is it?

I think we should thank Eskimo Pie for its extreme honesty.
It takes courage to admit to your customers that you have purposely foisted this derogatory name on them for as many years as they could get away with it. However, now, after their racist actions are exposed, and only after, agree to change.
But the ice cream bar is very deliberately what we USED to (and some people still insist on) calling this group of people. Complete with a picture of one of them. But that’s not their name. One quick search in the engine of your choice shows very clearly that there is still a kid dressed like an Inuit on the boxes, right next to (and sometimes holding) the E in Eskimo.
The left is always erasing things. You’d think more people would stand up to them.
You know, I’ve looked more in to this and I do not buy it that Eskimo is derogatory or that any majority of people who fall under the category think it is derogatory.
It’s supposed to be derogatory because supposedly Eskimo means “eats raw meat” in a language spoken thousands of miles away from the arctic circle.
I explained to you multiple times why it is. If you can’t understand the very basic logic that refusing to call somebody what they want to be called is derogatory then you’re an idiot.

Well since these manufacturers appear to prefer being woke by destroying another classic brand... I suppose the least I can do is to help them to go broke.

No. I understand fully. People shouldn’t be called what they don’t want to be called of of basic respect and civility.
