Has the American flag replaced the Trump sign/flag?
September 27, 2020 | Vanity

I crossed the Mason-Dixon line today, driving north on Route 30 from the Baltimore area into Pennsylvania. I drove through farmland, side streets, developments, etc. Not unexpectedly, there were a healthy smattering of Trump signs/flags, but not as many as you would expect in this rural, pro-Trump area. What was striking, however, were the number of American flags that were out in front of houses. A couple of suburban developments south of Hanover had probably one American flag for every 5 houses, and there was probably a Trump sign/flag one to every 12 houses.

Weirdly, I saw zero Trump bumper stickers in my 2 hour drive through Trump country (I saw zero Biden anything all day). Additionally, there were a smattering of other possibly "shy" Trump supporters, e.g., thin blue line flag, "vote freedom," etc. Bottom line: I thought the Hanover, PA area was celebrating the 4th of July--that's how many flags were out in yards and on houses. Has the American flag replaced Trump signs?

How does “black lives matter” and “diversity is celebrated” go together? I guess they really want very limited diversity.

How does “Women are in charge of their bodies” go together with “people are valued”? Not so valued if some people are getting killed just waiting to be born.

How does “in OUR America” go together with “all people are equal”? Sounds like they really don’t believe in equality if they set themselves apart like that.

It’s a weird little world out there. I mean come on, it’s just a “coincidence” that there’s a frog species that looks just like Kermit?

Always something goofy out there for the observation. God’s a funny Guy, and He even has His favorite movies.

Anyhoo,

Can you believe all those free lemons we get from the sour-hearted people? They just keep throwing them our way.

That just means a lot of lemonade stands popping up across the fruited plain, plus talk about low overhead. :)

The Way of the Patriarchs is the Sunny side!

>> Yes, the American flag is the covert and less obvious way to support Trump <<

I am in a borderline township in a borderline state and I totally agree. PLUS signs supporting the local PD are also pro-Trump families.

There is no hypocrite like a liberal hypocrite.

Add “How does “Let’s have a conversation about XYZ” to together with liberals shouting down other people when they try to have said discussion?”

There is a very clear reason many Trump supporters don’t put Trump 2020 bumper stickers on their cars - so they don’t get keyed or vandalized. Trust me, they are out there, waiting to walk into the ultimate safe space - the voting booth - and vote for Trump/Pence 2020.

Yes indeed. My wife will not let me post Trump signs because she’s afraid the “hate has no home here” folks will harm her horses. So we compromised and hung American flags.

Many President Trump fanatics, and I proudly consider myself one, are concerned about damage to their property (car, house, etc.) if they display Trump election material.

If you drove around the towns surrounding my area of New Hampshire you would have been very depressed. BiteMe/Harris signs everywhere. Even BLM signs in more then a few peoples yards.

I hope you are right about American flags being a sign of support for Trump in the areas you drove through ... you won’t see them much here in NH.

Central Florida Gulf Coast....Trump flags on cars, trucks, boats....large Trumps signs on damn near every corner...US flags and Trump flags on houses and Trump yard signs aplenty....no bumper stickers tho...that’s old school, I guess, cuz I did see one Biden bumper sticker a few weeks back.

It is a quiet way of showing support for Trump, but has greater roots to it. It is after all the American flag.

The flag is definitely a low-key show of support for conservative values in SE Pa. We've been noticing it over the past couple of months. There was an additional increase in flags for 9/11, and many flags stayed up afterward. There are flags with thin blue lines, signs with red/green/blue lines for medical/military/law enforcement support, as well as many signs supporting the police. We saw some of this in upstate NY as well, but it's more obvious in PA.

Nobody in his right mind puts conservative bumper stickers or magnets on a car around here. It's an invitation to vandalism or worse. Likewise signage in front of homes. Another pattern we see is that citizens will post signs supporting other Republican candidates, leaving the presidential support unstated. When we drive around and see signs for Kathy Barnette for US Congress, we know it's probably another Trump household. She is a black conservative challenger whose values are very much aligned with those of the president. Her photo is on the signs. People who don't follow the congressional races probably assume she's a D. Lots of signalling going on around here.

Finally—today—saw my first Trump lawn signs in CA. In Rio Vista, a (relatively) conservative Sacramento Delta town.

I’m closer to the Bay Area so a subtle American flag for me. I placed it a few months ago, on impulse.

In my AL neighborhood, there are two Trump flags. I know most of our neighbors and am confident that absolutely no one is voting for Biden.

A couple of weeks ago, a “Trump Bus” stopped in our town and many people purchased Trump flags, bumper stickers and other paraphernalia. Unfortunately, because of health issues, I was unable to go.

Our town may be small and boring, but at least we can display our support for Trump without fear of arson or our vehicles being keyed.

The American flag has become synonymous with Trump signs.

Trump bumper stickers invite vandalism.

Biden anything invites derision from folks with brains.

I’m more worried about having a Trump sticker on my car and being run off I95 Into a ditch than I am about having my car keyed, but I wouldn’t want that, either. I’d love to wear a MAGA hat around town, too, but I don’t want to be punched, shoved or spat upon. Says a lot about Biden voters, doesn’t it?
