This is a perfect example of how brilliant the Founders were to place control of the military in civilian hands. When it comes to dangerous people I think Mattis fits that category. Continual war is how generals keep their jobs and advance through the ranks. His remark about “collective action” can be interpreted to mean sedition.

What puzzles me is that Trump gave Woodward extensive interviews for the book. Trump oughta know who Woodward is or at least one of his underlings should have. I really don’t understand some of the moves his team makes sometimes. At times its like they’re trying to lose.
If Mattis or anyone of the other second hand accounts feel so strongly about Trump they need to come out and say so loudly and clearly.

This all sounds like the rantings of self-important people who are used to having their way and never having their opinions shut down. They haven't worked with people like Trump - but should have, a long time ago.
Mattis is used to being a top dog in the military, with people jumping when he said jump. Suddenly it's Trump telling him when to jump.
So much of this is because Trump bruised the egos of self-important people.
