LeBron James launches multimillion-dollar campaign to recruit poll workers

NBA star LeBron James’s voting rights organization is launching a multimillion-dollar campaign to recruit young poll workers in Black communities for the November election.

More Than A Vote, which consists of athletes, state election officials and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, will work to draft activists to work the polls in southern and battleground states including Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Louisiana Mississippi, Alabama and South Carolina, ABC News reported.

"There are a lot of people who grew up in the inner city who are afraid to vote," James told reporters from the NBA bubble in Orlando, Fla. "We're giving everyone the tools, outlets."

Corporations will also partner in the effort, which will schedule paid advertising on digital, radio and TV outlets

The New York Times first reported More Than A Vote’s new campaign on Monday.

It comes as several states have struggled to run primary elections during the coronavirus pandemic as older poll volunteers have opted out of working due to the risk to their health. Fewer primary poll workers have resulted in limited voting locations and hours-long lines.

I can only remember liberals organizing poll workers.

Is it time Conservatives assert their right to be poll workers?

I suspect it would drive liberals mad and they would call it 'voter intimidation' but I believe it's something we should have in place before the election.

"There are a lot of people who grew up in the inner city who are afraid to vote,"

I don't believe it unless it is because of Black Panthers outside of polling places.

:: There are a lot of people who grew up in the inner city who are afraid to vote ::

Seems an odd statement for 2020.
Now, 1920...yes.
Is there a multitude of quotes from such folks or is this just anecdotal clap-trap?

Anyone care to fathom a guess how much money LeBron James stands to make through the “corporate partnerships” he’s planning on?

Afraid to vote??? Why, pray tell. Do they want to vote Republican? Then they should be afraid...of Democrats.

The Republican poll workers in my town remember casting their votes for Lincoln.

If there is going to be a lot of mail in ballots, the GOP should be scaling up their people. In my town, there is a week of early voting and no mail out crap.

We are also in MA, so our Presidential vote is ceremonial, at best.

We need pool workers too. Any pooling place without conservative has the potential of huge fraud! If you can make it, please, sign for it ASAP. It is getting late. Contact your local GOP office! It is a fun and you even get some (small) money out of it!

Absolutely. It is in place in most places. But we need to stuff everything! We need people to do it!

I was a Republican poll watcher in one of Sheila Jackson Lee’s precincts. First, you have to stay all day; no lunch break, no bathroom break. It is meant to be torture, as the Dim precinct judge can let his people come and go at will.

The Dims cheated all day long and every time I called them on it, they said their precinct judge said it was okay. The final straw came when they wanted to take the ballot boxes to the final counting station without reconciling the number of ballots with the number of people who signed in, or the number of people who got the number slips when they registered. I insisted on a count and they reluctantly let me do it by myself.

You know what happened to all those irregularities? Nothing. I was told to make a report to the Texas Republican Party and nothing came of it. This happened in a precinct where Lee was going to win anyway, but the Dims just cheat as a matter of habit. The total experience disgusted me, but I would do it again if asked.

Wow. Thanks for confirming what we’ve all suspected.

Big left wing cities use their size to cancel out smaller cities and towns. There are big cities like Philly that have recorded 120% registered voter turnout.
