HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnamese authorities said on Sunday they were finding it hard to track the origin of a fresh coronavirus outbreak that began in the central city of Danang and has infected around 200 people in recent weeks.

"In Danang, there are many sources of virus, and there are still many infections out there in the community," a government statement said of the city, a popular tourist hotspot with a population of 1.1 million.

The country reported 34 infections on Sunday, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases to 620. The death toll rose by two to five, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said the strain of the virus detected in the new outbreak is a more contagious one.

He said with the new strain, each infected person may infect about 5-6 people compared to 1.8-2.2 people in the previous period.

Americans would rather buy from other Americans.

Absolutely. Me too. But between China and Vietnam Americans would choose Vietnam. It wouldn't surprise me if it was China spreading their disease...

I personally think this was an accidental release of their bioweapons experiment

BUT..there are those that think China is perfectly capable of intentionally releasing it with no thought to how it would kill their own people in hopes of world domination.

So , in theory, China could release another version.

I saw where they escaped scientist said this is a bioweapon but havent read up on what that scientist said.

The answer to your question may be the same as, does China have TDS?

Yes. It’s been spreading faster in the U.S., too.

New Covid-19 mutation ‘helping outbreaks spread faster around the world’
The Telegraph
22 July 2020
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/07/22/infectious-covid-19-mutation-dominant-globally-fueling-faster/

Masks in large stores are helping, though. Missouri has a relatively polite population (more police, stricter laws, etc.), so I’ve been watching that State.

After the big stores started requiring customers to wear masks on the 20th of last month, daily cases increased for ten days: five days for the infected to become ill and five days for those who lived and socialized with them to become ill. The following three days after that, cases decreased steeply and rapidly to about one-quarter the number at the end of the ten days.

I believe the virus can mutate. But other than the author of the article saying it is a new strain, what proof does the article offer?

Maybe the virus is being tuned? Maybe there are new versions of it coming from somewhere and being introduced?

Remember, mutations almost always make virus’ LESS EFFECTIVE.

Maybe it’s from Mars, maybe I can speculate like anything about anything without proof or anything. It’s so much fun.

I imagine the new strain would make the vaccine irrelevant, just in time for its arrival. What a coincidence!!!! Sorry, I stopped buying the fear hype a while ago.

Virus real? Yup.

Mortality rate justify this kind of totalitarian power grab? Nope!

Hysteria speed maximum!!!

Same here. Don’t understand how anybody could confuse what you said the first time. I would not trust China never

Could this be the same strain that hit the US east coast in March via Europe? I had heard quite some time ago that we have two strains. One that arrived in USA via Europe (I think it was this one which was more deadly) and the other strain was the one that first appeared in Washington State and likely more directly from Asia.

Another question I have is, could the new infections in the southwest and west coast be the east coast strain finally making it to the western region of the US?

Here’s more info on the recent Vietnam spike:

“Vietnamese scientists have said the strain of the coronavirus found there was more infectious than the earlier strain, and this latest strain had also been previously detected in Bangladesh, Britain and Ireland.

The government has not officially linked the new cases to illegal immigration, but Phuc has ordered police to strengthen a crackdown on illegal entries.

State media on Sunday said police in Danang had arrested a 42-year-old Chinese man suspected of heading a criminal group smuggling people across the border from China.”

If we did, why have our government scientists not determined that after so many months?

I didn’t think it was possible for someone on this board to still be afraid of this virus.

The human psyche is predisposed to fear as a survival mechanism.

We humans have to train our minds to think logically to combat fear. Some people have a really hard time overcoming that built in fear.

Those that wish to control the Populus with fear have become very good at couching a fearful message in the language of science and thereby convincing the gullible that it is logical to believe the message of fear.

Only by being firmly grounded in science, understanding the limits of science, the tools being employed in the science in question and then studying the sides of the scientific arguments involved can you ferret out the truth.

Not usually an easy task. Most of us will just have to decide who to trust.

Thanks.

I had also heard that, but decided not to publish anything here, just in case that was too sensitive.

But that agrees, with what I had also heard.
