Sixty percent of workers who have tested positive for coronavirus in Los Angeles have refused to cooperate with contact tracing, making the pandemic harder to control and raising doubts about whether such a system can work nationwide.

The Los Angeles Times reported Friday: “The county’s contact tracing system has repeatedly failed to find workplace outbreaks before they spread widely, placing an ever-expanding circle of employees, their families and others at risk.”

I would never do contact tracing. I don’t need them calling me asking who i was with and were and go hide in my house for a month.

Contact tracing is an idiotic concept. So an unwashed Democrat goes shopping at three different stores, walks by 83 people, no one sneezed, and gets the flu. Who’s the culprit?

Contact tracers don’t get a warm welcome in South Central, eh? Whoda thunkit?

I will not cooperate with giving the government my location and people contacts. If I were to test positive, I would personally contact the people who needed to know so they could take the precautions they believed appropriate for themselves. That’s what’s called being a responsible person.

Looks like testing is a de facto invitation to government to intrude on your life.

They’ll find a way to financially penalize those who do not “volunteer”, much like those who are made examples of by being fined for opening a business or not wearing a mask.

Contact tracing is fine VERY EARLY in a viral epidemic, trying to keep it from being a pandemic in your population, IF YOU HAVE CONTACT TRACING MEANS AND OPERATIONS YOU CAN SET UP VERY EARLY.

While it is useful to quickly hitting the areas that spike, BEFORE THE VIRUS SPREADS TO THE GENERAL POPULATION (which is how it was used in Korea, Taiwan and Singapore, once the horse is out the gate - the virus is already running around the general population, the time for contact tracing is over. By then you have enough data from testing and hospital admissions to identify where any spikes are. You don’t need contact tracing to tell you that.

Contact tracing has a long history when it comes to STDs.
It’s pretty effective there because everyone KNOWS the shortlist of contacts from whom they might have caught it.

Not so with respiratory viruses like COVID. You were in a Walmart with 300 other people? Good luck with that.

The Left is doing this for a reason and it has nothing to do with health.

Your additional comments are good for everyone to remember.

- the differences between STDs and respiratory epidemics, and why contact tracing works well with the former and not the latter.

It’s funny how many freepers would refuse to cooperate, I guess we’ll never get covid under control since so many here are anti-mask, anti-vax, anti social distance and now anti-contact trace.

And none has asked the obvious question, how much of the resistance to contact trace in L.A. is due to the Latino immigrant population and fears of their immigration status being known?

When the surgeon general attempted to reach out to at risk minority populations at a press conference the Left painted him as racist. They don’t want covid under control because the pandemic isn’t being seen as a health crisis but as a political opportunity.
