Amazon founder Jeff Bezos fired back on Instagram against a customer who sent him a profanity-laced message over the companys support for Black Lives Matter telling him that he was happy to lose customers like him.
There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post, Bezos wrote. This sort of hate shouldnt be allowed to hide in the shadows. Its important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem. And, Dave, youre the kind of customer Im happy to lose.
Dave, whose last name was blacked out by Bezos, told the billionaire founder of Amazon that he canceled his order after reading its statement in support of Black Lives Matter and that his business relationship with you is over.
The statement that sent Dave into a tizzy read in part: We believe Black lives matter. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, customers, and partners, and are committed to helping build a country and a world where everyone can live with dignity and free from fear.
Amazon has also placed a Black Lives Matter banner at the top of both its website and the main screen of its streaming video service along with recommendations of movies on racism and injustice.
Visitors to Amazons website can also click a link to read a blog post about the companys $10 million donation to organizations supporting justice and equity.
Since the death of George Floyd, corporations have rushed to support Black Lives Matter and other social justice organizations to maintain their politically correct credentials.
