We may see parallels with fascism in the mob behavior but let’s be realistic, these are communists or anarchists, not fascists. I believe that when we use the term fascists it may be counter-productive because it may just join in the background noise of anti-fascism that these communist revolutionaries are trying to whip up in America today.
You and I may have this conversation and know why we are saying fascist, but many people out there won’t get it at all and will not retain any impression of having heard a criticism of the rioters at all.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think the misuse of the term fascism is really based on frustration that people aren’t seeing the obvious, which is a communist revolt against America. One thing I do remember about the 1960s situation was that nobody called the far left fascists then, and they were still basically beaten in their efforts to subvert the constitution. It took most of the 1970s, the failures of Jimmy Carter, and the promise of a new start with Ronald Reagan, to overcome that strong revolutionary movement. I don’t think we have a decade to play around with this time, the demographics are changing fast enough that we are not far from a very violent confrontation if this movement isn’t contained quickly.
Nor am I saying that calling them fascists will do any harm, it probably won’t matter what you call them, the fact of the matter is that people better connected than most of us happen to be will need to rise to the defense of the constitution, even some who may never warm up to Donald Trump, because unless that happens, the absence of high profile criticism of this communist revolution will allow it to succeed through intimidation and force. At least to the point where an armed conflict becomes inevitable. Maybe I should say nothing to forestall that as quite often I find myself wishing it would just come so we could get it over with.
They are Red Front, right out of 1920s Germany. They have the same goals, they have the same philosophy, they even have the same symbols.
They have correctly diagnosed the fatal weakness of a liberal democratic regime. They realize that, for the State to stop them, the State must act violently, and this the State is unwilling to do.
They are not fascists.
They are a Weimar problem. Pray that a Weimar soliution will be unnecessary.
Just because we can only guess who their central leader is (Soros) doesn’t mean they aren’t Fascists.
They certainly are the only ones acting like and using Fascists tactics.
But I agree, there are better words for them.
Like TERRORISTS.
You are correct. People don’t understand the difference between the European definition of “right wing” and ours. Hitler and Stalin were socialists and fascists.
