Allen West, a former Florida congressman, was injured in a motorcycle crash just outside Waco, Texas.
A post from "Team West" to his verified Facebook page provided an update Saturday evening on the 59-year-old's condition.
"According to law enforcement on the scene, a car cut LTC West off, resulting in two motorcycles colliding, one of which was his. He was transported by helicopter to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition and undergoing assessment," the post said.

From what I’ve seen over the course of my life, if somebody rides a motorcycle fairly regularly, they’re gonna get smashed up in some way or other.
I know you really liked this remarkable man. Prayers up for a great man.
Thats helpful. Not.
Was the person who cut him off trying to listen in on his cell phone conversations?? Check them out, probably some lib on way to Austin.
I certainly understand the appeal of motorcycles, but never thought it was worth the risk.
What do you call a person who rides a motorcycle without a helmet?
An organ donor 😈
Prayers
I see the older guys on bikes every day, and most don’t wear helmets. Do we have accidents? You betcha! There isn’t a week where we don’t. “Watch for Bikers”. LTC West is one of my fav’s, I wish him well, and a fast recovery. Someone should send him a Chick Fil A sandwich.
Yes, and I’m living proof.
Some rarely use their turn signal,
some cut right in front of you after they pass you,
some follow too closely even when there’s no one else around.
When you do follow too closely
the person in front of you is controlling your car.
This sort of thing is why those machines have been called DONORcycles. It isn’t the bike or the rider’s fault. It’s just that in spite of the fun and pleasure of the riding, the machine offers NO protection in the case of a crash, especially being intentionally attacked by a auto or truck driver, as is the case with LtC West.
I was once married to a Baltimore motorcycle cop.
That man did love motorcycles and always wanted me to ride with him.
By me, sitting on a motorcycle and being scared out of my mind, not being able to talk, sometimes crying....not my thing.
One time he wanted to take a ride and I succumbed to this entreaties and jumped on. I was only wearing flip-flops.
Husband made a turn almost putting us on the ground and the top of my big toes got ripped off.
Of course I shall never get on a motorcycle again, not for any reason.
Maybe your chances are better out in the country or something. I don’t know. Think I’ll just take a walk outside...
Yes, there are many who prefer safety and security to liberty and living fully.
To each his own.
It’s just that I prefer living and not being turned into a paraplegic.
My snowbird neighbor in Florida bought an enclosed trailer for his motorcycle, and transported it from New Hampshire. He spent awhile looking at SE Florida’s stoner/drunk traffic, and wheeled it back into his trailer.
I haven’t asked if he’s still biking in New Hampshire since those seven U.S. Marine bikers were killed ALL TOGETHER in last summer’s NH crash.
Now have buddies who are die-hards who are parking and selling their Iron Horses just due to the road hazards out there today. Even being very experienced and careful, they just don't feel safe.
I've used the same logic that my FIL used on me for my SIL, but he's too confident in his youth and strength, and not really considering that in a blink of an eye his young son could be without a father...
