The police chief of Houston, Texas, is blaming "spiritual warfare" for a shocking murder Saturday as an 80-year woman described as a "perfect grandma" was allegedly murdered by a career criminal who had been arrested 67 times and was free on bail at the time of the killing.
"There's spiritual warfare going on, not just here but across the world. This is just crazy," said Police Chief Art Acevedo.
"I just want to tell this community we need to pray. We're fortunate that we're led by a mayor and a council that believe in the power of prayer."
"We've got to pray for this city and pray for this nation and pray for this world because you just can't make sense of this. A woman has lost her life because some guy decided he wanted whatever she had on her. To think that a guy stabbed a little old lady, I can't tell you the emotions I'm feeling right now."

And it is bu——s-—t. The city leaders are dems.
a judicial failure, and an amoral legislature.
I took it at face value and took encouragement from it. I can always hope. But obviously I don’t know as much about the situation as you do.
They did. Used 9’s I believe. Pretty sure he ain’t going to God.
Somewhere down the article I saw “PR” bail. Personal Recog? SRSLY! I guess he got a break cause he was poor and thus not required to pony up cash?
Thanks for saying that. It helps to offset some of the negativity on here toward Mr Acevedo's line of thought on the situation being a matter for prayer.
This is the opposite of spiritual warfare. This is dispiriting warfare, openly delared against Christianity by truly evil people like George Soros, Tom Steyer, Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos among others to deliberately sow the seeds of chaos in the world.
“...and the world can live as one....” Uh, not as long as humans exist. Sooner or later, somebody wants to be the boss of you.
You forgot the “/S”.
It's not his fault--it's the court system's fault for releasing him. He keeps trying--67 times he's tried.
Gee...what a “tragedy”/s
No, travesty... travesty of justice. Govt is the problem, evil govt...
What kind of society have we become where the national focus for the last several months has been to lock up the law abiding citizen, and then flush out the prisons to put the most dangerous of our society free to pursue their natural careers of violent crime?
Unreal.
Pray?
Prayers are not enough. We also need a moment of silence.
"I can't get this s...t right!"
The same police chief that blamed the 2 dead citizens for shooting 4 cops when it was all cops shooting cops?
The same police chief that just blamed the NRA and Republican congressmen for the murder of an officer by an illegal alien felon that not only wasn't allowed to have a gun wasn't supposed to be in this country?
That Art Acevedo?
Yeah sure. Then I want solid proof he has been raising hell about it. He hasn’t. And he has lead the leftist charge everywhere he has worked.
No dice.
I don’t know anything about him—I was just going by his position as enforcer of law rather than dispenser of justice. Since you say you are familiar with him, I will defer to you.
I find it humorous how Acevedo toted the leftist line when he was chief in Austin and now that his leftist dreams come true, he acts like he’s disappointed.
Bless his heart.
All they have to do is promise not to murder anyone else and show up on the appointed date.
Blind squirrel, broken clock. He’s right that the city needs prayer, but I am skeptical that he or the current city leadership is in any way an answer to prayers for mercy - they’re more like a judgment from a justifiably wrathful God.
The previous mayor demanded to see transcripts of sermons that dared to allude to her pet LGBTQWERTY projects. I don’t recall the current mayor (a councilman at the time) or PC (a big-time gun-grabber) objecting.
I just love how you’re free to talk about spiritual warfare & prayer & the like if you are a leftie but if a conservative says anything like that they are in a cult & bigoted & have just lost all credibility.
Seems like I’ve heard/seen “We DON’T want your thoughts and prayers!” someplace.
