I think the viral load was probably higher due to multiple exposures AND high blood pressure a diabetes will get you killed.
This doctor says that diabetic, pre-diabetic, and fat people are more susceptible to death from CV than others. New Orleans certainly has plenty of all three.

Just casual observation, but it seemed to me that there were more “major leaguers” in NO than in NY.
Bullbleep. New Orleans problem is “because Mardi Gras”. I’m a south Louisiana native now living in San Antonio. I’ve never lived anywhere with as high a population of grossly obese people as SA. NO isn’t even in the running. Yet the SA coronavirus problem is nowhere near that of NO.
Mardis Gras, NFL playoff game would be my guess.

One contributing factor, is that New Orleans has a high number of “immune compromised” people, due to HIV.
