AFAIK those clinical trials have been fast tracked but not concluded. Doctors working on diseases are empirical scientists; they need hard data and hard results, no exceptions. Unofficial early reports are not official conclusions and mean exactly nothing until they are official. During pandemics, there is urgency, not exceptions to how researchers working on cures do their jobs. What if they went with early "promising results", and were wrong and lots of people died? They have to be as sure about their results, as circumstances allow.

So, with your premise, as you present it, here what is YOUR position confronts you with.
Your mother and father are seriously infected, and the good doctors said, we have no evidence whatsoever that this combo will save them because we haven’t done extensive clinical trials. We need to do these trials and they typically take YEARS.
But, others said we have data that suggests strongly that we can save your mom and your dad regardless of what they claim, but, we do not have YEARS of data.
What would your decision be?
