A Generational War Is Brewing Over Coronavirus: Scientists say lack of alarm among young people could hinder the fight against the virus and endanger elders
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 17, 2020 | Bojan Pancevski, Stacy Meichtry, and Xavier Fontdegloria

Scientists and government officials fighting the coronavirus epidemic say they have a problem: Carefree youths. As authorities moved to restrict social gatherings last week, bars and restaurants from New York to Berlin filled up with revelers, illegal “lockdown parties” popped up in France and Belgium, and campuses in the U.S. lit up for end-of-the-world dorm parties. So far, most young Covid-19 patients have experienced mild or no symptoms from the virus, while more severe cases are concentrated among those aged 50 and over. Data released last week by the National Health Institute in Italy, currently the world’s worst-hit country, shows mortality rates starting at 0% for patients aged 0 to 29 and edging up to peak at 19% for those over 90. Yet scientists say tests have shown children and young adults are no less likely than older people to get infected and transmit the virus. Epidemiologists are growing concerned that the millennial pushback against social-distancing measures—and an emerging generational divide about how the disease is perceived—could undo all efforts to slow the spread of the virus and put vulnerable people at high risk.

A lung is not “terrifying”; this “doctor” is a loony tune. Ebola, now that was some gross sh8t.

“I am livid over the panicked response to this thing.”

Join the club!

But maybe another silver lining to this will be that Trump will shine through this, and more people will recognize it and vote for him. It would be exactly the opposite of what the media planned and hoped for. His finest hour, as some have mentioned.

Guaran-flat-tee you, this boomer is in no way alarmed.

The kabuki theater is repulsive.

First responders are hit first and worst, responding to CV case. Doctors, nurses, paramaedics, cops, fire fighters etc. The guys and gals you need the MOST.

Even if they are young “recovered survivors,” they may be semi-invalids due to permanent lung damage.

This may be killing the old first, but there have been and will be more young people on ventilators. More of them will come off the ventilators, but for millennials (and others) to think they are ‘virus proof’ is ridiculous. There are infants that have contracted this. Viral pneumonia is viral pneumonia. It looks the same on chest X-ray or CT, no matter what your age.

We ARE Americans, and it WON’T be the same here. American Exceptionalism, American ingenuity, American scientists, etc., will bring this crap to an end and will save the world yet another time.

Yeah, dude, it takes a while to get over PNEUMONIA. For example I have had pneumonia twice and have a tiny bit of “horrors!” lung damage which doesn’t affect me in the least. After all people it’s pneumonia which can kill anyone. You still have way less chance of getting Chinese coronavirus than getting in a car wreck.

Or is it just that the young are NOT impacted to the extent seen in older folks?

Since that seems to be the suggestion of the data to date, why get wound up; let them have fun.

Those at risk should protect themselves, all others, keep-on keep’en-on!

OK Bye Boomer.

At airport yesterday, a group were talking about this, and I overheard a Millennial gal laughingly say “I don’t have to do this sh**!”

Btw, on last leg only 7 on board, and we all got to sit in 1st class.

Look. It’s really simple. We have to make some sacrifices to ensure this thing doesn’t overwhelm our healthcare system.

So suck it up. Quit bitching and let’s take care of this shit. Then we can fix the damage it has done.

We're a lab test. Both physiological and psychological. Let's see how well our latest bug spray works, and study the Pavlovian responses of our test subjects.

Wipe your noses and go back to work.

No. The Sheeple have actually rolled over and haven’t even uttered a dissenting “Bah!” as the government is closing the churches with their 10 person limit for gatherings. We have opted for “security,” which the government cannot guarantee, instead of freedom. We will regret this in the future.

And at the airports, ticketing, TSA and store folks may be wearing gloves, but I did NOT notice them using hand sanitizer between every traveler.

So, the little buggers on drivers’ licenses, credit cards and cash is being easily shared. Hmm...

Indeed.

We are telling our overlords “Touch our toes? Close our eyes? Whimper? OK, sure.” And they are learning fast.

Just for you,Travis McGee. A song first heard somewhere off Rt1 just north of Hai Van Pass when I was 19 yrs old and it stuck like glue for over 50 yrs.
Almost took my own life around 1980 but there's that song rattling around in my head and I thought "all the young Marines I knew that would give anything to be where I am now. What a chickenshit thing I was doing.
So here I sit. Knowing there are far worse things in life than dying and watching helplessly as the boomers either collapse this country or enslave our grand children with an surmountable mountain of debt. I can't decide which is worse.
So spread fear and panic. Hope it's OK if I poke a little fun at you. It's a free country, right and they invented viagra just for us. What a wonderful life.

MY GIFT TO Y'ALL

And When I Die

I'm not scared of dying
And I don't really care
If it's peace you find in dying
Well, then let the time be near

If it's peace you find in dying
And if dying time is here just bundle up my coffin
'Cause it's cold way down there
I hear that it's cold way down there
Yeah, crazy cold way down there

And when I die, and when I'm gone
There'll be one child born
In this world to carry on, to carry on

Now troubles are many, they're as deep as a well
I can swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell
Swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell
But I'll never know by living, only my dying will tell
Yes, only my dying will tell, yeah, only my dying will tell

And when I die, and when I'm gone
There'll be one child born
In this world to carry on, to carry on, yeah yeah

Give me my freedom for as long as I be
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me
And all I ask of dying is to go naturally
Oh, I want to go naturally

Here I go, hey hey
Here comes the devil right behind
Look out children
Here he comes, here he comes, hey

Don't want to go by the devil
Don't want to go by demon
Don't want to go by Satan
Don't want to die uneasy
Just let me go naturally

And when I die and when I'm dead, dead and gone
There'll be one child born
In our world to carry on, to carry on, yeah yeah
