She was a dumb kid. Enabled by an evil industry and tricked by propaganda. We don’t let tobacco companies advertise to children, and we don’t allow alcohol sales to minors, so why do we allow for major elective surgery based on propaganda-inspired whimsy?
While I was understand she was young and should have been protected, this reminds me of the nonsense when AIDS was spreading in bathhouses in the 1980s. Attempts to close them were met with protests of homophobia, yet the official line today is that the government didn’t close them fast enough. Echoes a more recent issue, when banks were forced to lend to bad credit risks for “racial parity”, then a couple of years later when the borrowers defaulted the same banks were accused of predatory lending.
