The Republican party has no, zip, zero, nada, zilch chance of replacing Donald J. Trump on the ballot in 2020, the next opportunity that could occur is in 2024. Nobody else running in 2020 is even remotely close to being “conservative” in the prospects of how the country is to be ordered and run over the next four years.
Every one, EVERY one, of the persons running against Trump is either to the left of him or FAR to the left of him. Nobody is to the right of Trump, or even anywhere near in the same territory. As of now, he clearly has the field to himself.
Donald J. Trump may be crude, rude or even somewhat lewd as the circumstances arise, but he is also pretty darned shrewd, and shrewd is what we need in a fast-moving world where things can turn on a dime and require a whole different perspective virtually in an eyeblink.
And Shrewd is a quality sorely lacking in the Republican Party while the Democrats are full of Conniving with a bit of its higher IQ relative Shrewdness.
