Who will pay for Bernie Sanders' plans?
CNN ^ | February 27, 2020 | Zachary B. Wolf

CNN spent a good chunk of time doing the math to come up with a bottom-line figure for all of Bernie Sanders' proposals -- not just "Medicare for All" but the Green New Deal, free college, universal pre-K and child care, and so on. The total? An estimated $50 trillion.

This week, he released fact sheets explaining how he'd pay for them -- or rather, how he'd raise $44 trillion in taxes to pay for them.

Take a look at the Medicare for All portion in the chart below. You'll see that some of the money comes from rolling back the 2017 Republican tax cuts, some comes from new taxes on the rich and some is from capital gains taxes. But some also comes from collecting money that employers and individuals currently pay to private insurers -- that is, trading premiums for higher taxes.

Friendly assumptions. For this little experiment, CNN gave him Medicare for All at the bargain basement price of $27 trillion -- current national health spending that would be ported over to federal spending -- over 10 years. That's a steep discount off an estimate from the Urban Institute and does not include $7 trillion in new national health spending. But whatever.

A Communist is a Socialist who ran out of other people’s money.
Having run out of other people’s money, the Communist tries to rebalance supply-and-demand by confiscating everything by fiat.
Having discovered that the total value confiscated is insufficient to meet demand, the Communist compels citizens to work & produce.
Having discovered that compulsory work cannot produce sufficient supply, the Communist reduces demand to meet supply ... eventually by terminal means.

England makes clear all WILL service their healthcare needs exclusively thru state-run medical providers.
Canada (AFAIK) allows private medical, but once you “go there” you’re not welcome back to public care.

You pay for public schools - even if your kids go to private. Mine would, but for the state confiscating the necessary funds.

Private security is, on the whole, neutered. Full-blown armament & arrest powers are rarely granted.

AOC et al make clear federal healthcare will be paid for by taking ALL health $$$. Few will have enough left over to buy private care.

“The schools should be required to teach the truth about socialism/communism.”

That’s like requiring hyenas to eat grass.

Pubic school teachers, for many decades, have been coordinated (by NEA and ed. professors) in indoctrinating our youts to like and prefer socialism.

We need standardized vouchers for all and many many private schools, to evacuate our kids from the government indoctrination camps.

So when the SHTF, the teachers are legitimate targets along with the bureaucrats who give the orders?

Probably 75% of them.

I would start with “Is America a democracy?” and “Do you believe in the God of Moses?” and go from there with them, individually.

It should be paid for by the wealth lib gentry faux socialist who control the Democrat party. And come to think of it the feckless, treacherous, duplicitous, rino, quisling Chamber of Commerce types who control the GOP should pay for their treachery as well. Higher taxes on both of them.

Aside from the rank stupidity of your statements, you just copied the exact justifications for Obamacare

Who’ll pay? Nobody - the nostrums will stall the economy, nobody will have a job, and nobody will be able to pay for anything. The government will print dollars, which will be less valuable as money - i.e., inflation.

The phenomenon is called, “stagflation.” And it’s “impossible” - except that it’s inevitable with fiscal malpractice combined with regulatory overreach. But Bernie wasn’t paying attention in the late ‘70s . . .

Yes. Single-payer will mean that any “capitalistic health care industry” will be against the law.
