A Cedar Rapids man who was arrested Monday is accused of holding a woman captive and forcing her to watch Roots a nine-hour miniseries that chronicles author Alex Haleys family line from the capture and enslavement of his ancestor Kunta Kinte to the liberation of Kintes descendants.
Robert Lee Noye, 52, forced the woman to sit with him, at a residence in the 700 block of Second Avenue SW and watch the series so she could better understand her racism, according to a criminal complaint.
When she tried to move, Noye told her to remain seated and watch the movie with him or he would kill her and spread her body parts across Interstate 380 on the way to Chicago, the complaint said.
Noye faces charges of first-degree harassment and false imprisonment.

Watching “Roots” for 9 hours should add the charge of “torture” to the arrest warrant.
Just another anti-racist Democrat psycho.
#24. Does anyone remember the line in the movie “Hamburger: The Movie” about Kunta Kinte said by a former football player turned actor portraying a hamburger joint manager talking to black cops about some problems he was having with people in his store?
One of the funniest lines and scenes in movie history. About 30 years ago. He looked like the actor John Astin/Austen in “Beverly Hills Cop”.
I do that all,the time
It was the binge-watching of its time. It was all we had.
I watched a movie last night where two black men robbed a store and killed a woman. They said, “Hey, this is America. We’re black and we take what we want.”
Forcing someone to watch Doctor Zhivago would be worse.
“Forcing someone to watch Doctor Zhivago would be worse.”
Without a break (or five) would be cruel and unusual. It’s 3+ hours, but it manages to seem like even more. Ugh.
Now I’m going to shift to an over-the-top cruel and unusual punishment: Being forced to watch Doctor Zhivago and Gone With The Wind, back to back. That would break me! Break me, I tell you!
I don’t how to post a picture, but he should be sentenced to watch that classic of cinematography Birth of a Nation 1916 over and over again. It’s about how the KKK saved the south from Reconstruction and black rule.
Well, at least he didn’t chop off half her foot when whe tried to escape...
That should break just about anybody. In terms of pacing, Doctor Zhivago makes Gone With The Wind look like John Wick, even though Gone With The Wind is actually longer.
