John Kelly Finally Lets Loose on Trump
The Atlantic ^ | 2/13/20 | Peter Nicholas

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, the former National Security Council aide and impeachment witness President Donald Trump fired Friday, was just doing his job, former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly told students and guests at a Drew University event here Wednesday night.

Over a 75-minute speech and Q&A session, Kelly laid out, in the clearest terms yet, his misgivings about Trump’s words and actions regarding North Korea, illegal immigration, military discipline, Ukraine, and the news media.

Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, said that Vindman is blameless and was simply followed the training he’d received as a soldier; migrants are “overwhelmingly good people” and “not all rapists”; and Trump’s decision to condition military aid to Ukraine on an investigation into his political rival Joe Biden upended long-standing U.S. policy.

I have an economics degree

You expcet me to be impressed by that? LOL. So what? Economics is common sense.

If there is a shortage of nurses then importing nurses (again using this as a hypothetical) would not decrease wages.

Increasing supply always always always lowers prices. Get your money back your degree is worthless.

No, I meant his actual father, the felon Charles Kushner, and, separately, Rupert Murdoch. Two separate people he talks to daily.

If Kelly has nothing to say about the FISA warrants and attempted coup on the President then he is nothing.

Where did you get your economics degree? In Mexico? Nursing requires at least 2 to 6 years of education and internships.

The supply and demand wage calculation only works if you can get people off the street to jump right into the job. The reason I bring up nursing is because while a shortage of nurses will raise salaries for nurses it is not a good thing to have a shortage of nurses so that is a case where bringing in nurses to offset the shortage is good until you can train a local population of nurses.

Whatever the case may be Trump has been repeatedly betrayed by his own staff and I find that anger inducing. Trump should have hired people from MAGA states - local State people and bring them into DC. He didn’t - his only mistake was to think that he would not have anything to worry about from the Establishment of both parties. He assumed he would have cordial relations with the Establishment but they view Trump as a threat to their power. The support of the GOP base is what keeps the GOP Establishment loyal with some exceptions like Romney. Graham would betray Trump in a heartbeat if not for the GOP base.

Absolutely.

But Trump still will keep any major Swamp exposing at bay—as evidenced by his naming Swamp Master Barr to run his DoJ. I think the Kushner corruption has kept Trump from being able to really go after them because of mutual assured destruction if he did.

That is part of the dance with Swamp Critter Graham, whom I note cosponsored a bipartisan bill in support of Ivanka’s pet women’s empowerment project this week.

Which is what higher wages do. Any nurse currently working during this "shortage" can pretty much set their own wages. You are taking the side of management which is what most greed driven myopic Republicans do.

Thus it is that anything she has to say about the goings-on inside White House during her two-year tenure is given a lot of weight by most Trump supporters. In a Sunday interview with Kelly O’Donnell of CBS, Haley basically accused both then-Chief of Staff John Kelly and then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson of rank insubordination, even though she said they claimed that was not their intent.
Here’s the key outtake:
Haley recounts a closed-door encounter with then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson: “Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country … Tillerson went on to tell me the reason he resisted the president’s decisions was because, if he didn’t, people would die. This was how high the stakes were, he and Kelly told me. We are doing the best we can do to save the country, they said. We need you to work with us and help us do it. This went on for over an hour.”
O’Donnell asked, “You memorialized that conversation? It definitely happened?”
“It absolutely happened,” said Haley. “And instead of saying that to me, they should’ve been saying that to the president, not asking me to join them on their sidebar plan. It should’ve been, ‘Go tell the president what your differences are, and quit if you don’t like what he’s doing.’ But to undermine a president is really a very dangerous thing. And it goes against the Constitution, and it goes against what the American people want. And it was offensive.” -— Source : Daily Beast [I think]

No, to become a nurse takes time. We are not talking ditch digging jobs. I used nursing because that is an example of a demand that can’t be filled right away. Once you train a native population then you can cut off nursing related immigration.

While Barr may have links to the Establishment I view him as a hero in that he saw the Establishment (or a faction of the Establishment) try and coup the president. He may be doing so because he believes in preserving the power of the presidency and not so much because he agrees with Trump's ideology - I don't know. But, from my sense of it Barr saw a coup attempt being done by the bureaucratic elements and he is trying to stop that.

Regarding all the mainstream media outrage about the Stone sentencing and the DOJ - they act as if the DOJ is a 4th branch of govt (as if the DC national security bureaucracy is a 4th branch of govt independent of the Executive) and I think Barr sees this as dangerous and is fighting for preserving the executive power over the bureaucratic power usurpation of power.

It takes time; so your solution is to import 3rd worlders from a poor country in desperate need of nurses and doctors already? When wages go up high enough it is amazing how many people come out of retirement and who are willing to work overtime to make up the difference. Meanwhile young people are hearing how much nurses are making and make career decisions to go into that field.

You really don't believe in America or free markets. Only global manipulated markets. You are a gloBULList right?

And even better, is of no importance. Trump sets the agenda. Not Kelley or Vindman or Yovonovitch.

Now you are throwing strawmen arguments - if people come out of retirement and that fills the gap - fine by me no need to import. I specifically said there is a shortage - I don’t know why you assumed I would exclude the retired in filling that vacancy.

I am anti globalist and against free trade - I am a Pat Buchanan type or a Steve Bannon type. I just gave an example in the modern world where there maybe a need for immigration. But for the most part we don’t have an empty frontier to fill like 150 years ago nor do we have labor intensive factory jobs unfilled. So the need for mass migration is non existent for America. There maybe needs for targeted migration here or there on a limited basis is what I am saying but you seem to treat that as me advocating for open borders policy which is stupid on your part, no offense.

I'd like to see the full Kelly quotes in context.

From the Atlantic's description it appears that Kelly is a CNN Fake News consumer.

Barr is majorly corrupt and burying stuff day by day, week by week. Don’t kid yourself (or listen to Joe DiGenova or the Q psyop). Per usual, he might offer up some slight prosecution of some minor character, but all the big stuff is being buried on his watch: Clinton, Obama, the billion-dollar corruption and arms and drug deals, etc. Just look at Wray and the FBI. Totally pathetic and under Barr’s control.

And Barr I imagine is happy to throw Trump a bone or two, as part of the purported Trump/Bush truce that brought Barr in after Poppy’s death. But there’s no real retribution, for example, for all the Never Trumpers under Barr’s watch.
