The Santa Clara Public Health Department said Sunday that a second case of coronavirus in the Bay Area and the ninth in the United States has been confirmed.

So, no interaction with anyone with the airline or the passengers? No interaction with family or friends? Did she take a taxi, Uber, public transportation to her current location? What about to her two times to seek medical care? Who drove her then?

Is it true that so far, all of the victims are Asian? I read that at a couple of different websites. That would be weird, but it is true that different races are more susceptible to some ailments.

I also posted this question on another thread about the virus, because I really want to see if we can find out if it is true. Even those who are said to be students at a foreign university are said to be Chinese.

Is it true that so far, all of the victims are Asian?

I don’t know. There are very few cases outside of Asia. And most of those flue from Wuhan so it’s likely they are asian too.

I would imagine that most of the victims are indeed Asian. I don’t know if they all are. I suspect the German cases are not.
I’m not sure about the Illinois case. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some non-asians living in wuhan that are sick, but how are we going to know that.

Reportedly, some Asians do have a receptor present on cells in greater numbers than others that the n2019CoV virus seeks out. But that is just a relative thing. And, of course, the reason most or all victims so far are Asian is because the disease is occurring thus far in Asia.

Yikes that is a big number. So either we got lucky, we had divine protection, it hadn't spread enough, or worse we're not catching the cases.

The 3000 would have been from all over China, not just Wuhan. And even the odds if they were from Wuhan that they were infected would be small.

Now, not so much, and I fully support the air travel bans and quarantining.

But of the two new cases, one traveled to Wuhan and their spouse caught it upon return.

“The San Benito County cases are a husband and wife, both 57, health officials said. The husband recently traveled to Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the coronavirus. The wife did not join him, so the transmission has been person-to-person, but officials confirmed that neither of the patients have left the home since the husband’s return from China.
