Last year, Democrats rushed through the impeachment hearings because they claimed the evidence was overwhelming and impeachment had to be done immediately. Today, they’re bellyaching about the need for more witnesses and evidence in order for there to be a fair trial.
This is, of course, after the Democrats didn’t allow the president any of his own witnesses during the House impeachment inquiry, and chose not to subpoena more witnesses in favor of getting the vote to impeach over with, so, as Nancy Pelosi has said, President Trump would be “impeached for life.”
As White House counsel Pat Cippollone noted Tuesday, the Democrats destroyed their own argument that more witnesses and evidence are needed to have “a fair trial”
“By the way, I was surprised to hear that — did you realize, you’re on trial? Mr. Nadler is putting you on trial. everybody’s on trial except for them. It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. They said in their brief ‘we have overwhelming evidence and they’re afraid to make their case,’” Cippollone said.“‘Overwhelming evidence to impeach the president of the United States.’ And then they come here on the first day and they say, ‘You know what? We need some more evidence.’”
It’s absurd that Democrats claim they have overwhelming evidence and then argue we need more evidence. If they think there isn’t enough evidence at this point, then how can they justify their vote to impeach? Are they admitting they voted to impeach without enough evidence?
Their current narrative about the need for more evidence undermines the legitimacy of their vote to impeach. Of course, this isn’t all that surprising. They’ve been throwing out all kinds of allegations waiting for something to stick. They’ve been calling for impeachment from day one,

Trump needs to stop perpetuating the process of appointing Ivy League, and near Ivies (Stanford), law school grads to the Supreme Court. The elite leftist Ivies dominate the Supreme Court. Find an outstanding jurist who attended a state university law school and believes in the Constitution as written.
Well, I guess they need more evidence to sway the Republicans. None-at-all is only overwhelming for their own kind.
Either do it fast, or do it right. Because if you do it fast, you just have to do it all over again.
And the House Democrats spent a HUGE amount of political capital just getting these feeble excuses for “articles of impeachment” out there.

. . . times a million. In my opinion, the way things are now, being an Ivy-leaguer should DISQUALIFY you from consideration for court appointment. They are the meatheads that got us in this mess in the first place.
I want President Trump to be the first U.S. president to appoint a retired truck driver with no legal background as a Supreme Court justice. :-P
I still can not believe the United States Senate is allowing this farce to Sully the US Constitution with inuendo, gossip, asumptions and presumptions based on hearsay, double and triple hearsay. all without a Single Piece of Direct Testimony or Evidence.
Why is ANY of this Gossip even being Allowed to be presented??
Isn’t there a Single Senator to Stand up and DEMAND they ALL BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS ??

I wish I could agree with you, but where you see stupid (and it does often look stupid to careful obeervers), I see audacity and arrogance. They have the audacity and arrogance to put forth bald face lies, hypocritical arguments, self-contradictary and preposterous claims with the knowledge that a. The totally corrupt media will massage the information and selectively broadcast the arguments to eliminate the lies, hypocrisy and contradictions and b. The great mass of the American people aren’t paying close enought attention to know better. They end up accepting the carefully manufactured fake news sound bites and that becomes their opinion.
The author has been fooled into thinking the Democrats care about the impeachment results. They don’t. This whole thing is an just an opportunity for Democrats to campaign and spew allegations against Trump.
Our local talk radio said they are not even going to cover it, they would cover the KU KState thug brawl and the warning in Florida about iguanas falling out of trees instead.
That’s what I’m talking about: the media must think that the proceedings make the dems look awful (and I think they’re right) which is why they choose not to broadcast.
The Dems don’t just want “more evidence”, they want more charges. If they don’t get them in the Senate they’ll start the whole process over again. Unless they pay a terrible price in November this will be the new normal in American politics.

The Ivies also gave us the MBA’s who led US corporations down the road of globalism, one sided free trade, outsourcing of American jobs, private equity firms destroying great companies (Sears), and oligopolies allied with government in most major industries.

This round is just a rehearsal. If the dems hold the House and gain the Senate we will be back next year for a rehearing with maybe additional charges. If that happens, a dem Senate will call all kinds of witnesses and ask for documents.
