The entry of Michael Bloomberg into the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is not, I think, exactly what it seems. The claim and assumption is that Mr. Bloomberg became alarmed at the stumbling candidacy of Joe Biden and has charged to the rescue of the sensible Democrats.
In this reasoning, Mr. Biden no longer afforded reasonable confidence that the nomination would be kept out of the hands of advocates of universally socialized medicine, the Green Terror, open borders, sharp corporate and upper-income tax increases, huge reparations to African and native Americans, and legalized live-birth abortions (i.e. infanticide).
Mr. Biden seemed to be faltering, goes the reasoning; Mayor Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., lacks the necessary stature and carries a lot of leftist baggage as he tries to change lanes to the center, and Senator Klobuchar of Minnesota is presentable but humdrum, Walter Mondale in drag.
What is needed is the three-term mayor of the Big Apple, builder of a mighty business, formidable philanthropist, and, though she does not become too involved politically, longtime escort of a very accomplished and in all respects impressive woman (Diana Taylor). This is a dream come true for the Democrats plodding along with myriad forgettable candidates, right?
Not so fast. The existing field of candidates is not very prepossessing, and they dont agree on much except their antagonism to President Trump, which goes well beyond good-natured partisan posturing. JFK and Hubert Humphrey got on well personally with Richard Nixon, and the same was true of LBJ and Barry Goldwater, Bill Clinton and Bob Dole, and even Barack Obama and John McCain.

Doesn’t matter. He’ll be able to pump millions of dollars into an anti-Trump campaign legally in order to help out the DEMs, at least with the House and the Senate.
Bloomberg is gambling Trump will be taken down on one charge or another and won’t be running.
Bloombergs Bet Will Fall “Short” Of President.
Speakin of short....
Infelicitous image.
If he thinks he has a chance to be President,he’s nuttier than he looks. I think all he’s trying to do is run a bunch of ads to pile on Trump and make him look bad. Good luck you little rich punk. But a punk never the less.
What’s his big agenda? To remove salt shakers from restaurants and limit sugary drinks to a single 12 oz. serving?
Bloomberg’s 31.5M ad dump this week is already proving tiresome. An occasional ad is fine, but when they keep going...and going...and going...like the damn Energizer bunny, people get fatigued. Especially on Thanksgiving week when people are focused on Turkey, Football and Black Friday. Politics are the last thing on their minds.
little mike could put BIG MIKE on the ticket and borrow her high heels.
I’m glad for these ads. Less of his money spent on banning Big Gulps.
Bloomberg may be smart, but he is an idiot. Because if he has any real thoughts that enough Americans will vote for him to put him in office, he simply does not know our country. He’s a self-deceived narcissist.
But then, maybe he does know and just wants a legitimate way to burn Trump with millions of $$$ of ads against him.......why not? He doesnt need the extra $100 million........
[[[Doesnt matter. Hell be able to pump millions of dollars into an anti-Trump campaign legally in order to help out the DEMs, at least with the House and the Senate.]]]
Exactly, money laundering with no limits. Become a “candidate” and use that ability to pump your own millions into campaign ads against Trump to help the DNC. He’s entered far too late in the process. This is a smokescreen.
He’s hoping the gamble will bring in big bucks and business opportunities.
Speakin of short....
Bloomberg has no chance at all. His brand of authoritarianism doesnt sell outside of NYC. I hope he spends his money on his own campaign though. In the last congressional election he, Steyer and Soros each gave $100 million to the Democrats.
