Intelligence Democrat: Stop using 'quid pro quo' to describe Trump allegations
The Hill ^ | 11 10 2019 | Rebecca Klar

Posted on 11/10/2019 8:46:46 AM PST by yesthatjallen

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the focus of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump needs to shift away from the use of "quid pro quo" to describe Trump's alleged behavior.

"They’ve got to get off the quid pro quo thing, because it's complicated, they've already attested to the fact that it occurred, and what we're dealing with here is corruption, abuse of power in a way that damaged American national security," Himes said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Himes told host Chuck Todd he has two problems with the term.

"... It is probably best not to use Latin words to explain it."

"Number one, when you're trying to persuade the American people of something that is really pretty simple, which is the that the president acted criminally and extorted in the way a mob boss would extort somebody, a vulnerable foreign country, it's probably best not to use Latin words to explain it," he said.

Himes also said extortion doesn't require a "you give me this and I give you that" deal.

Jim Hines doesn't like the term, 'quid pro quo' because it's an old Latin term that confuses people.

He wants to change the narrative to 'extortion'.

It most certainly does.

This is the kind of jackass who probably thinks you can file murder charges even if the alleged victim is alive and perfectly healthy.

Jim Hines doesn’t like the term, ‘quid pro quo’ because the transcript proves there wasn’t one.

He is going to be arrested too. The more they immerse themselves into this false narrative the deeper into trouble they go.

I wish somebody would explain that diplomacy is entirely quid pro quo, extortion, and bribery on a national rather than individual level.

and what we’re dealing with here is corruption, abuse of power

Well that part is correct. The problem for the Dems is those charges belong on them and not on the President.

There is some truth to what he’s saying about using Latin, but the majority of Dems are not going to listen to him.
They don’t want to have to explain or breakdown why they want to impeach. They would even prefer using this sort of nebulous phrase, one that is not fully clear to the average citizen.

They don’t care what the term really implies.
According to them, the term now means what they want it to mean.

I have never really wanted to go to war against my countrymen for disagreements. But the more and more I see how corrupt and vile they are it is now a burning conviction. I have a higher opinion of ISIS than I do these clowns and we all know how ISIS has been dealt with.

It’s complicated so we need the Crowned Heads of government to interpret what is happening for us unwoke folks.

They want to move away from "quid pro quo" to "bribery" because "bribery" is specifically mentioned in the Constitution as impeachable ("Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors").

To get there, they have to make the common uncommon; they have to turn the normal quid pro quo of foreign aid policy into criminal bribery.

Democrats. They are so immersed in the whole welfare concept, that they probably really DO think that money that we give to foreign governments should have absolutely no strings attached. Foreign aid derives solely from the goodness of the hearts of the American taxpayer, and that we should not expect that the foreign country do anything in return that furthers American interests. Rooting out corrupt elements that pocket American money?? How can you be so obtuse??

What do they think a foreign policy is for?

The corruption here is the fact that Joe Biden used his position as Vice President to get his lowlife son a no-show $50K a month job in return for favors.

Nobody in the media seems to want to talk about that though, evidently we’re supposed to believe that Trump wanting it investigated is worse than the Biden’s pay for play scheme.

He’s right. We should refer to Bidens actions as bribery.
