The senate not having a trial would provide the Dems and deep state cover that it was rigged going into the election because Trump would have been convicted

You assume the president would be able to cross examine the coup plotters. You must remember this president is not accorded most constitutional protections. We see this over and over. With Roberts presiding over the trial in the senate, I assume nothing. What if Roberts decrees nothing will be considered other than the very narrow “whistleblower complaint”, no Dossier, no Clinton, no Mueller actions, etc. The president has no recourse if Roberts stays true to his DS roots.
