Bomb-sniffing dogs sent from the United States to its Middle Eastern ally Jordan are falling ill and dying due to poor treatment and negligence, a federal investigation has found.
A year-long evaluation by inspectors at the State Department found that at least 10 such dogs in Jordan died between 2008 and 2016 from medical problems. Even those who survive are suffering from "unhealthy conditions," such as inadequate kennels, poor sanitation, and overwork.
Photos in the report, published last week, show emaciated dogs with ribs protruding from their sides. Their nails are overgrown, and their ears are home to ticks so engorged they have likely been feasting on the dogs for days. In some facilities, there weren't any dog bowls -- the handlers fed the dogs by simply throwing food on the floor.

Those dogs could have been randomly dropped off in any decent, Christian or Jewish low income neighborhood in the USA and received far better, more humane treatment.

Anyone who knows anything at all about the s***hole countries, should know dogs are not treated well there. The very best outcome one could hope for is neglect. At least, so far as we know the dogs were not tortured.

Dogs are considered “unclean” under Islamic laws. To expect a dog to be treated well by Muslims is to not understand the religion.

Sounds like torture to me
The wonder is that it is a surprise to us that Arabs, friendly or not, mistreat dogs. Culturally and religiously, dogs are filthy animals to them, worthy of death and even torture. They have no value to Arabs, generally speaking (there are always a few exceptions).
So why in Hell are we surprised? We’ve been in Arab countries with hundreds of thousands of troops for well over the last 30 years. We know what their culture is about. WHY are we surprised? Who is THAT stupid in our government as to not know this, and to allow the dogs to be sent over anyway?
Start with their Presidential candidates. They all claim to want to serve their nation...well, here’s their chance.
Send me one of the dogs, I’ll treat him better than I would any Muzzie.
