Not a chance. It's going to pop $5-10 minimum. The question is will it gap up 5-10 and then close the gap or come down a little and then go back up and stay steady.

Oil futures. /CL. It closed on Friday at 54.82. Look for it to gap open above $59. When Iran took the tanker it spiked $3. This is a much bigger news event than the tanker. I'm just glad I closed my short positions on Friday. I know some people who did not. They are probably facing a margin call if it spikes above 10 a bbl.

People are speculating that this was part of a plan to get oil prices higher for the Aramco IPO. While I do believe Saudi is capable of all kinds of shenanigans I find this one hard to think of as a possibility.

I have a bunch of gold options that I bought at end of last week after I thought the underlying stocks had corrected enough the past few weeks.

Didn’t buy a lot though, but enough to make a few bucks if they pop back up.

And oil is not going up 5 to 10 dollars a barrel when the targets hit will be up and running by tomorrow.

I do predict a few dollars higher in oil, lower in stock futures and higher in gold tonight.

And that can all change by the morning.

And my predictions are worthless :)

I change my assessment of thee oil futures only going up a few bucks.

I think nas and dow and SP futures take a hit.

This kind of stuff rattles the market.

The lower open tonight may be gone by the morning though.

I doubt it too - and it would mean out own government is lying to us - which is not impossible.

That sounds outlandish, but I would say there’s at least a 50% chance that this was something other than an attack by a foreign aggressor.
