A Washington, D.C.-based federal judge has sided with House Oversight Committee Democrats seeking to enforce their subpoena of Trump accounting firm Mazars USA, in a major ruling that breathes new life into Democrats' ongoing efforts to probe the president's financial dealings.
The subpoena seeks access to a slew of Trump financial documents dating back to 2011, including personal records and records of various affiliated business and entities. Democrats pursued the subpoena after former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testified to Congress in February that the president's accountants routinely and improperly altered his financial statements -- including some signed by Mazars -- to misrepresent his assets and liabilities.
Barack Obama-appointed judge Amit P. Mehta's 41-page opinion began by comparing President Trump's concerns about congressional overreach to those of President James Buchanan, asserting that Trump "has taken up the fight of his predecessor."

Why would a local litigation lawyer working on retainer (part time!) know SO MUCH about his financial records and the involvement of Mazars?

Trumps attorneys will once again have to file an appeal and will get it locked up while the House DemonRats kick and flail, insisting there is a story where there isn't one.

That may be true, but they did it voluntarily, not as a part of a fishing expedition.
Having said that, I am beginning to wonder if President Trump is laying another trap for the Democrats. After such a big build up, perhaps they will find that President Trumps business dealings have all been within the law. This turns into one more NOTHING BURGER.

By all means appeal. It will go to the D.C. Circuit. And do you know who the Chief Judge of the D.C. Circuit is? Merrick Garland. Might as well start planning the appeal from that.
But the important part is that the current judge refused to stay his decision while Trump appeals. There is little to no chance that the D.C. Circuit will issue a stay while the case is being appealed to them. So the records will probably have to be produced.

What if Mazars tells the judge to pound sand and gets a full pardon from Trump for any subsequent legal issues, is that doable?
Look, we all know that they are desperate and they are trying to prove that Trump cheated or paid less taxes (percent wise) than everyday Americans. Little do they realize most of us - including liberals - agree that tax avoidance is a good thing. Just ask the so-called Rev Sharpton who managed a $4 million dollay forgiveness. It is just another losing strategy on the rats part and it will blow up in their faces. If Trump survives tax audits every year, how can there be any cheating?
