Has patriotism been bred out of today's Americans?

The worst fears of our Founding Fathers have become reality. Two things the founders were unable to protect our great republic from were the evil machinations of corrupt men and an inbred craven citizenry. Thus, both of these illegitimate vagrancies have led America to the very precipice of destruction vis-a-vis the satanic transmogrification of government – a precipice, I might add, President Trump for the moment has spared us from going over.

During our Revolutionary War, only 17 percent of the people were supportive of the fight for independence from England. But those 17 percent carried the day until the others found their spines. The others were willing to live as overtaxed, oppressed wards of an unseen tyrannical government.

People today are the anthropomorphic likeness of a toothless old dog. They’re willing to bark from time-to-time but only until a menacing voice shouts “be quiet.” Few things offend me more than hand-wringers who blubber, “What can we do?” That includes the “Facebook warriors” who think clicking “like” and/or leaving a five to 10 word response to a post is synonymous with being engaged.

I thank God for President Trump, because for this moment he is showing men how to be men and citizens how to be patriotic.

Thankfully, not completely. Yet. But, constant reminders by the actual socialist that loving this country is becoming akin to being a "nationalist" may persuade some that being patriotic is not necessarily important. They have obviously not lived or worked in TWSH places or are of the belief they can be socialistic and not let this place become a TWSH. Thinkin' manuro and other high level 'officials' in vene-zoo-a-lah ain't hurtin' for food or other day to day items. Sad dang situation.

He doesnt vote, thank goodness.

Thinks dems spend way too much so wont vote for them.

But his heart bleeds too much to vote R.

It's pretty close to bred out of the next generation. Just talk to them.

They've largely spent their academic careers hearing about how awful America has been. And they believe it.

I challenged one of my college-aged friends on his views because they were a distortion of reality that I had lived through. Given a choice between knowing me and his indoctrination, he chose indoctrination. The only things I asked was that he dig deeper, keep an open mind and observe the world around him.

My existence, relating the actual observed experiences of my life, was an attack of some sort. Sad.

This can’t end well. I don’t think things will go too well for us in the US once Trump is out, whenever that may be.

I think it will go downhill pretty fast. i.e. much faster than it was before his election.

I loved it when Trump said, “America will never be a socialist country — ever.” That woke a lot of people up and the libs looked shell-shocked. There is still plenty of hope.

All I know is in my little neck of the woods (NW Florida Panhandle), I’ve been observing the JRROTC programs in the high schools for over 35 years… and they’re doing an outstanding job of turning patriotic young high school students into patriotic young adults, the majority of them enlisting in the United States Armed Forces after graduation. I personally know four of them… two are my grandsons. It also doesn’t hurt that this area is heavily populated with active, reserve and retired military folks who serve as excellent patriotic examples for the youngsters to learn from and emulate.

I raised my grandsons and taught them the importance of respecting the flag, the sacrifices and contributions of our veterans, and how they could pursue a great future for themselves in this great country. Needless to say, my heart swells with pride concerning these four youngsters. They get it.

The high school ROTC programs seem full in Reno as well. During the Veterans Day parade they keep on coming. Hundreds of them.
