Theyre not so smug now. Manuel Henriques, founder and CEO of Hercules Capital and wife were arrested among dozens of well-heeled parents charged with bribing their kids way into top colleges. They allegedly paid mastermind, William Rick Singer, $400,000 to get Isabelle into the prestigious school as well as helping her younger sister cheat on her own college-entrance exam.
Singer allegedly talked Isabelles private prep school into allowing one of his crooked proctors to fly in to oversee the test. Then unbeknownst to the school, he sat side-by-side with the daughter during the exam and provided her with answers, court documents allege.....he gloated about the fact that they had cheated and gotten away with it, the criminal complaint reads.
Henriquezes then allegedly worked with Singer to bribe Georgetowns then-head tennis coach, Gordon Ernst, to have her designated a recruited athlete. Singer fabricated an essay and application for Isabelle that falsely claimed she played club tennis through high school, held a top 50 ranking in junior girls tennis for the United States Tennis Association and was on the USTA all-academic team for her junior and senior years, prosecutors allege. Less than two weeks later, she received a letter that her admission was likely......the criminal complaint alleges Isabelle was a willing participant. She says she interned for her fathers firm in 2018, is currently an investment-banking intern at Compass Point Research & Trading and is slated to be a summer wealth-management analyst at Big Apple financial-services company Jefferies.
Isabelles Georgetown acceptance was apparently such a success that her parents also allegedly paid to have Singers proctor repeat the cheating stunt for their younger daughter on both the ACT and SAT exams. Henriques and his wife turned themselves in Tuesday and were each released on $500,000 bond.

I’m enjoying the hell out of this whole scandal.
Did I miss someone passing a law saying cheating on a private exam is criminal?
Might be fun to examine their tax returns knowing that they like to cheat, but arrests for this seems more than a bit silly.
These folk will be charged with criminal conspiracy, tax evasion, mail fraud and other fun stuff.
It is easy enough to check tennis rankings.
I expect we will be seeing Isabelle Henriquez running for a seat in Congress in the next few years. Any guess what party she would represent?
Our Civil Society is falling apart around us.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
From Manuel’s eyes, he could be Alexandria O-C’s father. /s
Everything hidden will be exposed.
Are the assistant professors less craven than the tennis and soccer coaches?
Did you read about what they were charged with?
What a thing to be proud of.
Lying and cheating.
Kind of explains why they had to cheat to get her in.
Didn’t have to do all that. Just check the box for transgender, Black, Indian, m*slim, or peanut allergy and you’ll get in free.
For an application letter, just repeat “allahu akhbar” 1000 times.
Her major is Spanish, yet got positions working as an intern in Finance, sigh. She is a cheat and dumb as a stump. This is the second Isabelle from a wealthy connected family to be caught cheating.
Georgetown is really expensive, but like USC, I would hardly call them elite. They are just 24th in business schools. No idea whee their “spanish” school is ranked, lol.
Once they get these kids in, do they sit in with the basketball players in tiddlywinks 101?
She’s going to intern as a wealth manager? How do you justify spending $500,000+ to bribe your kids way into school, when the annual tuition costs is about $50,000+/-?
How much do they charge for that kind of advise?
It was only mentioned once, but it was Trump’s DOJ that broke this wide open.
Exactly.
Sure, just about anyone can form a "club" and say they played "club tennis," but once you start bandying about "USTA rankings," those are easily verified. (And by the way, if you're in the top 50, anyone who knows tennis has probably heard your name.
I was curious about the alleged athletic scholarships given. How do you "fake" athletic prowess enough to receive a scholarship? I would think most coaches will want to see game film, or some verifiable statistics.
Now, who paid for Obie to get into Columbine???
My son worked his ass off to get a 1520 (800 math) and that was AFTER they denied him extra time for his (bad) vision issues. He is really disgusted by this and today’s arrests for massive Chinese SAT cheating ring. He’s a talented coder, but will he be passed over for a cheat or AA beneficiary? It’s despressing.
