Jussie Smollett's career crumbles: 20th Century Fox is 'considering its options' and TNT shelves episode of Drop the Mic that he had filmed amid claims he staged hoax attack to get a raise and boost his profile
The studio which produces Empire said on Thursday it was 'evaluating the situation'
An episode of Drop the Mic that he filmed was due to air on March 6 but it has been axed
Smollett, 36, is accused of orchestrating the attack to get a pay rise
He earns $100,000 per episode of Empire which amounts to $1.8million this year
Police say he wanted more to staged an attack which won him global sympathy
He is being held in police custody for filing a false police report - a Class 4 felony
Smollett's career started imploding on Thursday in the wake of his arrest and allegations he staged a hoax attack to boost his profile and get a raise.
20th Century Fox issued a statement on Thursday after it was claimed by police that Smollett, 36, made up being attacked and mailed himself threatening letters because he wanted a raise.
'We understand the seriousness of this matter and we respect the legal process.
'We are evaluating the situation and we are considering our options,' a spokesman for the studio said.
TNT has also axed an episode of Drop the Mic which Smollett filmed with Clay Aiken, Danielle Brooks and Ian Ziering.
It was due to air on March 6 but has been shelved
'We had an episode of Drop The Mic this season with Jussie that you'll now (correctly) never see, but sadly it will shelve Clay Aiken, WHO WAS A VERY GOOD RAPPER (at least for now)' the show's executive producer, Jensen Karp, tweeted Thursday.

On Thursday, Chicago Police Department's Superintendent eviscerated Smollett in an extraordinary press conference where he called him 'despicable', 'shameful' and accused him of 'taking advantage of the pain of racism to further his own career'.
Smollett went on Good Morning America on February 14 to protest his innocence. He cried and said: 'Who the f*** would make that up?'

His sign said, "Hate Crime Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims" and "This is MAGA Country".

But, Hollywood is big on redemption for favored minorities. I predict that Jussie will return, after a well-deserved time-out and an apology tour. But, first, he’s got to face some music.
