I'm a big believer in Vitamin D supplements beginning with this post I made way back in 2006:

If you’re going to try any supplement don’t take one a day take 10. If you’re deficient you need to build it back up.

Do that for a week and see if you noticed any change.

If you take vitamin d be sure to take magnesium or you’ll get cramps like leg cramps

Be careful. I got sick taking too much Vit. D over a long period of time.

Laura Beil is in the tank for her big pharma buddies in the Kaiser Family Foundation.

https://www.sciencenews.org/author/laura-beil

If it is useless, then why does she worry if people buy it? It will not matter right?

Anyway, I love how Laura said “In the supplement world, vitamin D is a bit like a Kardashian. Its fame seemed to come out of nowhere about a decade ago”

The fact that she does not even understand this tells us everything we need to know.

Vitamin D3 REQUIRES Vitamin K to activate it. I take a couple D3 5000IU daily and a broad spectrum Vitamin K as some sub-components have been shown to have value to prevention of colon cancer.

I think the "studies" are measuring the wrong benefits and making a nay saying declaration based on false premises.

I was taking the RDA of D3 daily — until my endocrinologist recommended upping that by a factor of 10. I split the difference, and am now taking about 5,000 IU/day. I’m just taking it for bone health. The results of this study might have been very different, with higher doses.

I’ll just keep on going with 10,000 units a day and have no complaints and monitor levels yearly.

The medoco boffins did all they could to poo poo the research when it started. In poultry production it is considered essential by those I consider very expert.

I’m hardly ever sick with virus. It has been years since I have had a cold or flu.

I don’t have a problem with it, but I don’t think it or any supplement is any cure-all.

I use 2000IU per day. It is the only supplement I still take since 2011 when I tried my parents’ new doctor, who it turns out is an alternative complementary quack who tests absolutely everything Nd then tells us we need so many weird supplements. Which conveniently he sells in his “apothecary” across the hall.

Frankly, I don’t mind taking it, but I have not gotten healthier. In fact, I’m much worse. I went to him with old headaches mostly from an accident, and GERD and colitis, albeit well controlled. I have MANY more problems since that time, including this year with undiagnosed as yet torso pain.

I think we’re wasting a lot of money on things that don’t really need boosting. Not sure I should bother with D anymore.

Just because there are shysters who overplay vitamins doesn’t mean that vitamins cant be effective. On the other hand the Pharma/Medico/FDA cult has a vested interest in keeping people sick, also for profit.

You can tailor a study to prove anything.

That is probably because you need to take more than just D. K2 and a good absorbable calcium supplement, probably magnesium and selenium too.

Heard recently that studies are now showing that:

1. People with higher blood vitamin D levels do seem to be healthier and have increased longevity, BUT
2. Taking vitamin D to get these levels does not show expected benefits.

How can this be?

The solution to this contradiction seems to be that vitamin D blood levels are just a sign of something else: sun exposure. And sun exposure (within limits) actually seems to promote health.

I say this as someone who has always believed that sun exposure for a light-skinned person is generally bad and who has been taking about 7000 IU vitamin D per day.

In her late 50s my wife had a freak fall and shattered her wrist. In the xray it looked like a pile of crushed cornflakes. A year previously our doctor had put her of significant D regimen . She had surgery to rebuild her wrist and a plate put in.

She was out of the cast in 4 weeks. The orthopedic surgeon said he was astounded at her healing. He had never seen anyone half her age heal like that. He credited it to the D regimen.

I rest my case.

If they are attacking vit d you can be sure it is too effective for their bottom lines. Just like global warming “research” they know how to skew the facts by tweaking how the studies are done, the amounts given and the results. Most sups to really help with major health problems need mega dosing and work marvelously when taken synergistically with other vits, minerals and other sups. Curing things and prevention means billions in lost revenues.

It was never a Heart or Cancer prevention method, it is BONES D3 helps. Fish oil fares no better in prevention of heart disease. Nor does that Glucosamine and Chondroitin junk for joint pain. Hubby took it for years, never worked. K2 Complex helps keep your bones healthy and Plaque out of your arteries.

Getting a partial knee DID work.
